I remember when I was a little girl, my sister D hated wearing clothes. All of our pictures from around the house when we were kids shows her in her underwear, because my parents simply could not keep her dressed! She said that everything scratched, tickled, hurt...it seems pretty now, but back then, my mother was in tears every time we had to go anywhere because it meant fighting with D to keep her clothing on!
In particular, I remember when we lived in Kentucky, we had a brutal winter - well, it was the only winter I remember ever being cold, so it seems brutal in retrospect - and my mother, little sister and I were heading to the laundromat - in a TAXI CAB because we were pimps like that - and it was snowing...and D was stripping down to her underwear by the time the cabbie turned the meter to on.
That kid seriously hated wearing clothes.
And guess what? My niece turned out to be not much different! So when I heard about Soft® clothing, I figured that for my sister's sake, I better check them out! I received this really simple yet pretty Soft Party Dress in red. Super cute.
Like my sister and my niece, many kids are extra-sensitive to the texture and feel of clothing. Soft® is the first line of inclusive clothing designed with the needs of all children in mind, including those with sensory sensitivity, a common symptom of Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD and many Developmental Disabilities. Soft® provides extra comfort with their use of flat seaming, 100% of the softest combed cotton, wide collars, encased elastic waistbands and tagless labels.
Based in Brooklyn, New York, Soft® is designed by Jessica Ralli, a Special Educator, and Suzy Kogen Friedman, a mom and caring family member to a child with Autism. The common goal of both is to design clothing that can enhance a child's social skills, sensory organization and concentration by addressing unique sensory needs but without sacrificing personal style and self expression - all without breaking the bank. The Soft® Party Dress featured is only $22!
Dress up without the drama--feels like a simple jersey slip, looks like an adorable and totally chic party dress. You can dress it up for events or pair it with simple shoesto dress it down for a regular day. You can even just layer with a cardigan or long sleeve tee and stockings for the winter! It has flat seaming throughout for a seamless feel and is printed label and care info, so it is tagless. The Party Dress is colored with veggie dyes and enzyme washed for an extra soft finish, with an elastic sateen collar on the outside for a truly seamless feel on the inside! Oh, and how cool is this, it is printed with digital printing techniques!
Soft® doesn't just make cute party dresses, they make other clothing, socks, underwear, and even toys! Check out their great options for holiday gift giving!
*I received a media sample, but all opinions are my own. I wish the Party Dress came in adult sizes because it is super soft and super cute!
