Enjoying a day off now and then is just what I need. I'm able to read some, catch up on a few shows, or just take some time for me. That being said, it doesn't take long for me to get antsy when I've been sitting still too long. I've always been an on-the-go type of person. I'll try anything once and then probably a few more times if I like it! I had barely left Costa Rica after my first visit before I found myself planning a second trip, and shortly after that I was scheduling my next adventure. We're a month into the new year and I've been to New York and the Bahamas...and I love every minute of it! I have more traveling in store, but Viactiv's new program #BeActiv has reminded me that travel isn't the only way that I can stay active. Being active can mean getting involved, getting moving and getting healthier, and making sure that you're getting the recommended amount of daily calcium for bone health.
Most people know that calcium is necessary in forming and strengthening bones and teeth, but did you know that calcium also aids in contracting muscles, maintaining a normal heartbeat, even clotting blood? Calcium is used in conducting nerve impulses and other important processes. As many as 70% of adult women are calcium deficient, and that number increases to 85% for teen girls! That means that both myself and Angeline are at risk of being calcium deficient.
The human body doesn't manufacture calcium, so we have to get it from outside sources - getting calcium from food sources is important. The leading contenders for calcium are milk, yogurt, and cheese. While those are delicious, not everybody can eat or drink that much dairy, especially when you consider those who have allergies or are lactose intolerant, like Angeline. There are certain foods that are high in calcium, like dark, leafy greens, green snap beans, and almonds. While Angeline and I both love almonds, it can be very difficult to fit enough of these other calcium-rich vegetables into our diets. That's where calcium supplements, like Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews come in handy!
Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews are the #1 doctor-recommended calcium supplement chew. The soft chews come in tasty flavors such as milk chocolate, caramel, and even sugar-free milk chocolate. They are all individually wrapped so you can keep a few in your purse or console in your car, pretty much anywhere! One Viactiv Calcium Soft Chew taken twice daily provides 100% of the daily value of calcium for most women plus vitamins D & K. The calcium soft chews are available nationwide at stores including Wal-Mart, Rite Aid, CVS, Target and Walgreens.
Along with the Viactiv Calcium soft chews, Viactiv also makes Viactiv Gummies for an additional fun way to ensure you're reaching your daily calcium quota. They come in assorted tropical strawberry, peach-mango, and pineapple fruit flavors. They are gluten and dairy free and provide 100% of the daily value of calcium plus vitamins D when taken twice daily. The increased vitamins D in Viactiv Gummies supports the absorption of calcium into the body. The Viactiv Gummies are only available at Walgreens. Lucky me, I have a Walgreens right down the street!
Adding these chews or Gummies to our daily routine can keep us confident in our calcium levels and ensures that we're able to take on all the activities that life presents us...like a trip to South Africa that we are currently planning for Spring Break!
