Seattle, Here I Come!

Those of you who know me know that I love 90’s grunge music. I pretty much love anything that came out of the 90’s.

I’ve always had an interest in visiting Seattle and seeing it for myself: the laid-back vibe, the dreary weather, the music scene. I flew into Seattle in May of 2001 and was immediately whisked away from the airport and onto a 3 hour drive to Yakima, Washington, for my cousin’s wedding. I didn’t even get to see the Space Needle. I was crushed.

My friend moved to Seattle in 2009 and I’ve yet to visit her. Another friend and I are planning to visit during the annual Tulip Festival in April. I am PSYCHED. I can’t wait.

Of course, I realize that the Seattle I am going to see is not the same Seattle that created bands like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, etc. But still. It’s SEATTLE. I’m already rummaging through Groupon for deals on things to do while I am there. I am already looking into restaurants, bars and lounges for ideas of where to hang out while we are there. I already have my favorite hoodie picked out and a small umbrella to fit in my purse, just in case it rains. (I like to be prepared)

Also on the agenda for this trip is Portland, Oregon. Why? Because I can’t stop thinking about VooDoo Donuts. No, just kidding. I have heard so much about Portland from watching the Travel Channel over the years that its become one of my top ten “places to visit”.

I still have about a month and a half until its time to go…we plan on getting there right as the annual Tulip Festival begins. I’ll be sure to bring my camera (duh, I just use my iphone4) and share all of the fun with you guys!

PS – any tips or suggestions of places I should see while I’m in either city? Comment on this post or send me an email at therebelchick@gmail.com.
