I don’t mean to make you jealous, but my weekend was awesome! It began with the Art of Fashion event on South Beach, hosted by searsStyle and one of my favorite networks, Collective Bias.
Prior to the Art of Fashion event, I went shopping at Sears for an outfit to wear to the event, and in my last post, I promised to reveal my outfit on Instagram the day of the event. In case you don’t follow me on Instagram – ahem!! Why aren’t you following me on Instagram? I’m @TheRebelChick there too! – I wanted to share the final result of my searsStyle outfit!
I purchased the dolman sleeve top, the scarf and the jeans from the Kardashian Kollection at Sears during a great sale – everything was 40% to 60% off and I had a Shop Your Way Rewards Bonus coupon for an additional 15% off – and I only paid $73 for it all!
I love the way these Kardashian Kollection jeans fit me!! I bought them in the Kim style, which is a curvy, straight leg jean, and they are perfect for me! It is so hard for me to find jeans that fit me correctly because I have a regular waist and a BIG behind…so I normally have to buy jeans in a size up to fit my behind and then belt them or take them in. I didn’t have to do anything to these jeans…until I lost a few pounds! Ha! Then I had to wear a belt, but that’s not the jeans’ fault, now is it?
I was so excited to go to the Art of Fashion event. I haven’t been to anything on the beach in a few years, and I was looking forward to having a reason to get dolled up and drive across the causeway! I was also really excited to have a chance to hang out with my pal April from AprilGoLightly.com – she’s an old friend and also a blogger!
Once I arrived at the Art of Fashion event at the Raleigh, I was led up to the penthouse and told to choose a pair of jeans from Sears to try on. There were so many options to choose from, I ended up trying on three different pairs: Canyon River Blues in a straight leg, BONGO jeans in a skinny leg, and another skinny leg, jewel toned jean by True Freedom.
I ended up choosing a pair of Canyon River Blues in a darker wash skinny leg – they were so comfortable and really flattered my figure!
I went to work embellishing my new Canyon River Jeans with the help of Courtney and Melissa from Collective Bias who had already begun studding their own jeans.
I would have been totally lost without their help, as I had only ever used a Bedazzeler in the past and didn’t know how to apply the studs by hand!
I think that I did a pretty good job of studding my jeans, what do you think?
I just followed the pattern on the back pockets with my studs…I’m not too creative!
After I finished studding my Canyon River Jeans, I took a look around to learn a little more about the brands involved with the Art of Fashion at Sears.
I was already familiar with the Kardashian Kollection because that is what I was wearing (duh), and with classic brands like BONGO, Dockers, US Polo Association and Everlast, but there were a ton of new brands that I didn’t recall buying at Sears before, like NYX, True Freedom and metaphor.
That cute little top and skirt? That’s also from the Kardashian Kollection! I almost bought that same top to wear to the Art of Fashion event but they didn’t have it in my size.
As I walked outside, I found displays of the fashion offerings at Sears, and I liked what I saw!
Everything from classic fall colors and business-appropriate attire to fun casual wear, to glamorous evening wear and party attire!
I am a big fan of the Kardashian Kollection, especially, but I found that I loved the metaphor clothing line as well. The pieces were stylish but not so trendy that they would be outdated next year!
I could easily see Angeline and I swapping their tops back and forth, and maybe a dress or two as well!
I love styles that be multi-purpose because I no longer work outside the home, I need clothes that are comfortable and practical enough for every day wear but still look stylish and fun when I do go out!
One of the things I really loved about the Juniors lines at Sears is that while they were for the Juniors department, there were a lot of pieces that I could wear myself and not look silly!
I love when Juniors clothing is fun and fresh, but not outrageous, because Angeline and I can share them! I found a lot of pieces from the True Freedom, Almost Famous and Self Esteem lines that we could easily share and it would look age appropriate on either of us!
There was also a manicure station with Sally Hansen products – because you know that part of looking fashionable is having gorgeous nails!
After all of that studding, we all wanted a manicure!
And what comes next after having your nails tended to?
A little beauty make-over, of course!
The perfect ending to a perfect day full of style, fashion, creativity and being pampered while hanging out with awesome bloggers?
Meeting Jenni from ispydiy.com and having her autograph a copy of her book for me!
