This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of 3M Company. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever heard of visual hacking? Simply put, it's the act of people looking at what you're doing on your phone to try to figure out what you're doing, your passwords, or any number of things that are none of their business. Thanks to 3M Screen Protectors and Privacy Filters, you can protect yourself from visual hacking. With 3M Screen Protectors and Privacy filters, nobody is going to be able to view your screen on the sly.

    What Is Visual Hacking

Visual hacking is the modern day version of snooping. It's people trying to see what you're doing when you're on your phone. They're hoping to catch you putting in a password or accessing your accounts. They're hoping for anything that can help them do something nefarious, basically. It's becoming more of a problem, and when you consider the congested world we live in, it's quite easy to do.

    1

Did you know that two-thirds of working professionals access and display sensitive work information outside of the office? That's not surprising, considering how easy it's become to do work on the go. The concerning part is how often all of us are visually hacked in a day. 69% of workers say that they are under visual hacking threat at work. 55% report attempts to visually compromise their security while travelling. 51% of people have been the victims of attempted visual hacking while in public places.

When you couple these instances of visual hacking or attempted visual hacking with the instance of work information being accessed while on the go, and you have a recipe for disaster. Visual hackers might only need to see one piece of information to launch a large-scale data breach. It's also far easier for a hacker to sneak a peek at a smart device screen than to try to break through a firewall, and it's almost impossible to track! I travel so much that I am always forced to work while on the go - whether it's in an airport, on a plane, in a hotel lobby or even sitting poolside at a resort...such is the life of a travel writer!

    4

Even if you aren't accessing work information while on the go, you're still accessing your personal information, which leaves you open to visual hacking. That's why 3M Screen Protectors and Privacy Filters are so great. They make sure visual hackers come up with a big fat goose egg.

How 3M Privacy Filters and Screen Protectors Protect Your Information

3M Privacy Filters and Screen Protectors use black-out technology to ensure that prying eyes get nothing out of their efforts to see what you're doing. With this technology, these screen protectors allow you to clearly see your screen. However, anyone attempting to look at the screen from an angle will only see a black screen. That means you can safely and securely check e-mails, bank statements, and social media without fear of anyone with criminal intentions making your life miserable.

    3

Why Corporations and People Need These Screen Protectors

Data breaches are costly. They're costly to the tune of $5.8 million, on average per breach. That is a large chunk of change. That's only part of the picture, though. You may not be a corporation, but your money can still be siphoned out of your accounts and your credit ruined by identity thieves. And they're always trying to find new and creative ways of stealing everything they can. You can Learn More About Visual Hacking - what you learn may scare you - and it should!

Whether you're a corporate mogul or a stay at home mom, your privacy can be assaulted at any time, and 3M Privacy Filters and Screen Protectors are there to keep you safe from prying eyes and would-be thieves. All it takes is a thin sheet of this heavy duty privacy technology to keep you safe from the eyes of those people who are out to fleece you for everything you've got. I think that's something worth investing in! It's so easy to install on tablets, laptops or other mobile devices. It took me about two minutes to get it set up and working on my ultrabook laptop. I take this baby with me everywhere and I love that it has two options for installation - a glossy side that provides a great visual display, and a matte side that provides even greater privacy.

This would be perfect for people who worked in Starbucks. Luckily I work at home, but I would totally use one if I worked outside of my house.

I"ve never been a victim of visual hacking to my knowledge, and I'd like to keep it that way. I'll have to give this a try.

I have never used a screen protector, but it sounds like a great idea. I wouldn't hurt to have one.

I have never thought of this! I tend to not work outside, but it might happen this August since I do have to do some work while on vacation. This is very helpful information! Thanks!

Wow this is such an awesome screen protector. I do worry about others seeing personal info on planes and trains. This could be so helpful.

I am definitely the private type but had no idea these protectors existed. I want them on all of my electronic devices as soon as possible.

I try not to do a lot of work outside the house. But I do take my laptop to the car dealership for oil changes and such. I'd use one there for sure.

I could use these for sure when on vacation. I work from home so I don;t have to worry about people looking at my screen, thankfully. I also need to check to see if these are available for tablet. Those I could use also.

I had a co-woker read my text over my shoulder which made me mad. But I don't take my laptop out of the house so I haven't had to worry about other people seeing what I am doing.

As someone that blogs in public places a TON I can see the value in these. Plus, my laptop already has a tiny knick in the screen - I should have used a protector on it. Now I am getting one to prevent future damage.

I have not heard of this but I am not surprised. There are so many criminal minded people out there and they know all the tricks to catch us.
