Rotten Tomatoes’ Find Your Critic Helps You Plan the Perfect Movie Night

As much as my family loves going to the movie theater, we also love having a family movie night at home. There’s something special about snuggling up on the couch with your kids on Friday night with a bowl of popcorn in your lap! Thanks to the new Find Your Critic tool from Rotten Tomatoes, it just became a lot easier to find a movie that we’ll enjoy on our family movie nights.

What exactly is the Find Your Critic tool? It’s simple, really! Pop Secret has teamed up with Rotten Tomatoes to help you find critics that share your taste in movies.

It’s quite simple to use, just go to the Find Your Critic tool, where you will be asked to rate a series of 12 movies. As you rate each movie, the Find Your Critic tool will begin comparing your ratings to similar ratings by Rotten Tomatoes critics. I love this because I always have a hard time figuring out how to use a critic’s recommendations – there’s no telling if you have the same taste in movies. I love action flicks and comedy, so it was interesting to see how the critics matches up to my own reviews.

You’ll find that as you continue to review movies on Rotten Tomatoes, the tool will automatically continue to pinpoint your favorite critics. If your taste in movies begins to change, Find Your Critic will update accordingly!

Now that we know how to use the Find Your Critic tool to help us choose the perfect movie, let’s talk about how else we can prepare for the perfect movie night!

3  Tips for the Perfect Movie Night

  1. Pop that popcorn! While I love eating popcorn right out of the bag, it’s more fun to serve in a big popcorn bowl on movie night. Better yet, try serving popcorn to your family in those adorable little movie theater-inspired popcorn boxes that you can buy at the grocery store. With individual boxes, there are no worries about the kids fighting over the bowl!
  2. Dim the lights! There’s a reason why the movies are so dynamic on the big screen: you are completely focused on the movie!
  3. Silence is golden! I know that it can be hard to ignore your phone, laptop or tablet when you are watching a movie at home. But turn them all off! It’s so much more fun to spend time as a family and really enjoy that movie when you aren’t distracted by phone calls, emails and social media updates.

At Pop Secret, we love movies as much as you love movies. That’s why we created the Find Your Critic tool with Rotten Tomatoes. It helps you figure out which movie critics you should listen to. All you have to do is rate some movies and the tool figures out which critics share your taste in movies. It even helps you follow your critics’ new movie reviews and recos. So when it comes to enjoying movies, the only thing you have to worry about is which kind of Pop Secret to make. Check it out!

We love popcorn with our movies, especially Pop Secret! Your post reminds me that it is time for a family movie night and I should get some Pop Secret when I go to the grocery store this afternoon.

Great tips and thanks for the push! Since moving we haven’t been doing our movie nights. I think it is time to get that back on track!
