I've written before about the process of clearing out our house post divorce, and trying to make our home OUR HOME again...well, with my crazy travel schedule and Angeline's moving out, then back home, things stalled for a while. Okay, they stalled for a year. What can I say? Painting, buying new furniture, etc, doesn't seem quite so important when you're rarely at home and don't entertain guests as much as you used to! I began full steam ahead, throwing out all of our old decor, giving the living room a fresh coat of paint, buying new decor for the bookshelf, a new couch and ottoman...
I even went so far as to buy paint and a new bedspread for my bedroom, then stalled. I have had that gallon of paint sitting in my bedroom for two years! I've bought picture frames here and there - mostly small pieces of art that I've collected during my travels, or things I've painted during those ladies night events - Paint Nights.
I did, however, buy a nice new dining room table...which has yet to be put together because I can't find the screws! I bought it from my friend for $100. I also added a nice Papasan chair to my bedroom in my reading nook, which was given to me by a friend.
The thing is, these things add up QUICKLY. A good quality paint alone can cost upwards of $50. That couch? On sale, I still paid $700 for it. Angeline and I both got new bed frames and mattresses, pillows, etc. We spend the most time in our bedrooms, so of course that's where we spend the most money when decorating. Heck, even a full length mirror from Target or Amazon is usually $100!
I was recently introduced to a website and app called Wikibuy, which allows you to shop through the website or app from tons of retailers in order to save money...it's not just online retailers, either - you can also use the app to save money in store with special promotions AND save money at restaurants too!
Wikibuy gets you better offers, automatically applies the best coupon code at checkout, and lets you know when prices drop on products you've viewed and purchased. There is no need to search for promo codes because Wikibuy does all of the work FOR YOU!
You can download the extension for Chrome so that you can get notifications of Wikibuy deals as you're doing online shopping outside of their website as well!
You can just browse through popular items that others have recently bought, search by department or store - all right there in the palm of your hand!
As we are focusing on moving Angeline back in the past few months, we've been working on her room - new laundry hamper, new bed linens, shoe racks etc. I saved so much money using Wikibuy on this stuff!
We don't have a lot of closet space in our home - it was built in 1959 and homes in Miami were pretty small back then - so an over the door shoe and hat rack was an absolute must!
New linens for the bed were a no brainer - and so easy to find on Wikibuy! Of course, new pillows were a must as well, and I found a great deal through Wikibuy at Walmart!
The best part of all of this Wikibuy shopping? I wound up with a credit in my account after my purchase!
What are you waiting for? Go sign up for Wikibuy.com and download the mobile app!
