Pure Love for Pets Raises Money for Dogs on Deployment

I really love Purina and all of the hard work they do to help pet owners AND the pets that we love. You may recall my post a while back about Purina working to build the Purina Pet Haven in a women's shelter in Manhattan, if not, go ahead and check it out here. It will warm your heart! Now Purina is working with Dogs on Deployment to raise awareness of the need to foster and care for pets of our military men and women while they are away from home on deployment. Their mission is to give military members peace of mind concerning their pets during their service commitments by providing them with the ability to find people and resources able to help them.

There are so many men and women in the service who have to not only leave their spouses and children behind, but their pets too. And what about those soldiers who don't have a spouse at home to care for the family pet when they deploy? There are many men and women who ONLY have a pet while they are home in the United States, and they struggle to find a family or friend to care for their fur baby while they're overseas. I recently met someone deployed in Afgahnistan who was able to send his dog to live with his parents while he's gone...but what about those with no one to turn to? It breaks my heart to think of what happens to those pets, and what it must be like for the deployed soldiers overseas who can't "check in" on their furry friends.

Dogs on Deployment is one of those services that most people don't even realize exists - I certainly didn't until Purina brought it to my attention! Now I just want to help, because I know from experience with my ex-husbands friends just how stressful deployment can be, and worrying about the safety and care of their pets just makes it all that much worst.

Through PureLoveForPets.com, Purina^® will donate 25¢ for every correct answer, up to $40,000, to Dogs on Deployment, a nonprofit helping the military community enjoy life-long pet ownership. 

The Pure Love for Pets website also features reunion videos, product coupons and opportunities to donate using online or mobile methods.
