As you may know by now - because I talk about it ALL of the time - Angeline and I have three cats and FOUR dogs. Yes, in one home! While we are completely happy with our little menagerie of furry friends, there is a lot of work that goes into ensuring that they are happy, healthy, and to be quite honest, to ensure that they don't wreck our house and drive us absolutely batty! With flea and tick season quickly approaching in Miami, it's more important than ever for us to take preventative measures, like using PetArmor® Plus for Dogs and PetArmor® Plus for Cats from Target!
Protect Your Pets with PetArmor Plus at Target!
With four dogs that are constantly going outside to use the bathroom and to play, keeping fleas and ticks under control is extremely important. Especially since our neighbors also have dogs - and our dogs love to sit at the fence and bark at each other through the slats...if you are unfamiliar with fleas and ticks, then you may not know this, but they love to breed in the dirt! Of course, when dogs are trampling grass, it kills the grass and what are you left with? A LOT OF DIRT.
In addition to treating your yard, garden and home for fleas and ticks, it is important to stop flea and tick infestation at the source: your pet! While some pet owners may get all of their treatment from the veterinarian, that just isn't feasible for many pet owners. Think about it: I have four dogs and three cats. How often would I be in the vet's office, and how much money would I be spending if I ran to the vet for every. single. little. thing? No thanks! I would spend half of my life in the vet's office! Not only that, but you have to pay for office visits on top of the price of medication. That's why it is so convenient to be able to buy PetArmor Plus for dogs and cats at your local Target! Right now, you can get $4.00 cash back on PetArmor Plus for dogs and cats at Target when you use the Ibotta app!
I love that I can buy my PetArmor Plus at Target, as I am usually there once or twice a month anyway! It's one of those one-stop shopping stores where you can get everything from groceries and new towels to your dog food, cat toys and flea and tick preventatives!
I've had pets for my entire life, and they've ranged from cats and dogs to...birds, ferrets, hamsters, opossum, rabbits, snakes and horned lizards. When I say that I know how to care for pets, I am serious!
5 Tips for Caring for Your Pets
Ensure that your pets receive normal veterinary care. Your pets should see the vet once a year, at minimum. Make sure that they are up to date on all of their vaccines and have your pets spayed and neutered as puppies and kittens. Not only will this prevent unwanted breeding, but spayed and neutered cats and dogs are less likely to develop certain kinds of cancer.
Have your pets groomed on a regular basis. Even if you have "inside pets," they still need regular baths and if they're long haired like my Shetland Sheepdogs, they need regular brushing as well. Don't forget to clip their nails and brush their teeth too! You can use dental treats to help keep their teeth and gums healthy, but most dogs need to have their teeth cleaned by a veterinarian every few years.
Feed your pets a healthy diet. Pet food can be expensive, especially when you have multiple pets in the household. Believe me - we have 7 pets! While you may be tempted to sacrifice quality to keep costs low, it is far better in the long run to feed your pets the best pet food you can afford.
Give your pets plenty of exercise! Cats are pretty sedentary animals, and there's not a lot you can do to make them get up from their nap and get their exercise. Just make sure that you have plenty of toys for them to play with. Dogs, on the other hand, usually require much more activity. We have a fairly large back yard and my dogs love to run around and play outside. While I admit that I don't walk them as often as I should, I do make sure that they get plenty of exercise by playing outside. Now that Angeline has adopted a new puppy, the older dogs are getting even more exercise because he chases them all over the yard!
Protect your pets against fleas and ticks with PetArmor Plus year-round! PetArmor Plus can be used for protection, prevention and the treatment of fleas and ticks. So even if there is already a flea or tick problem, you can easily treat it and eradicate that problem! When used as directed, PetArmor Plus can quickly stop infestations and also help to prevent a reinfestation.
PetArmor Plus is really easy to use. You simply cut the tip to reveal the opening of the applicator, and place it between your pet's shoulder blades. Make sure that you part the fur so that the medication absorbs into your pet's skin. It is a fast-acting, waterproof formula that helps break the flea life cycle by not only killing fleas, but also it also kills flea eggs AND larvae for up to 12 weeks! It also kills ticks, which we all know may transmit Lyme disease. It's such a scary illness!
Seriously, the hardest part of applying the PetArmor Plus is getting your pet to stay still while you apply it!
Sometimes new pet owners aren't aware of the steps needed to prevent fleas and ticks. If your pet suddenly develops an issue, please know that getting fleas and ticks is not necessarily mean that you have failed as a pet parent! A while back, we had two Alaskan Malamutes (RIP) and we developed a huge tick problem - even though they were on flea and tick medicine AND had collars on. As it turns out, our neighbor's yard was INFESTED with ticks, and it spread to our entire block. We had to severely limit the amount of time that they spent outside because the yard was SO BAD! It took us about six months of constantly spraying the yard to eliminate the problem. The only thing that saved us was having the dogs protected - which is why it's so great that PetArmor Plus (available at Target) is so affordable and can treat a flea and tick problem, and help prevent future problems.

We need to put this on our dog more often than what we actually do. Summer is almost here and where I live there are fleas and ticks everywhere. I definitely need to buy some of this.
