Protect-A-Bed AllerZip Smooth Mattress Encasement Review & #Giveaway

protect-a-bed allerzip smooth mattress encasement

We bought a new mattress in 2009 and even though it’s been a few years, I still love that thing so much! We even saved up a bit and bought a pillow top mattress pad to put on top last year. It is so comfy that when I wake up in the morning, I just want to stay in bed!

Now, here’s the thing about expensive pillow tops and mattresses: they get dirty and ruined just as easily as old, inexpensive ones…and when you have as many pets as we do, it’s just a matter of time before you wake up one morning with a pee stained mattress!

A few weeks ago, I received a Protect-A-Bed AllerZip Smooth mattress encasement to review. I know it seems weird that someone without young children would want to review a mattress protector, but we’ve already been burned once by a kitten peeing on the bed at night – and a steam clean and bottle of Nature’s Miracle later, we knew better than to let it happen again!

It’s not just the possible kitten pee either that we worry about.

We have 3 dogs – long haired, dander-ridden dogs – and three cats, plus we always have random foster kittens around. All of that pet hair and dander could easily fill up our mattress and give us all sorts of allergy problems!

So what is the big deal about this Protect-A-Bed AllerZip Smooth Mattress Encasement ?

For one, it provides your family with a clean and healthy sleep environment through the AllerZip mattress protector’s patented BugLock. It slips onto your mattress easily with a three-sided zipper and AllerZip seal, and provides total protection against allergens like pet dander, dust mites and bed bugs. Now, we haven’t had to deal with bed bugs but we know all about dust mites and pet dander because our fur babies mostly sleep with us – or as close as they can get to use, as is Foxy’s case.

The Protect-A-Bed AllerZip Smooth Mattress Encasement fit easily over my mattress even though it had a fluffy pillow top mattress pad on top of it, and the material is smooth and doesn’t create any friction against our sheets. There’s no noise either, which is great because I am a light sleeper!

It’s also waterproof and stain proof, featuring Protect-A-Bed’s innovative Miracle Membrane with the Total Heat Transference Formula. That means that even if one of the pets have an accident on the bed, it won’t leak through to my mattress and it also won’t stain the Protect-A-Bed!

If you have a lot of pets, you might want to check out the Protect-A-Bed blog! There is a lot of information on preventing pet allergy issues and maintaining a healthy sleep zone with pets in the house!
