Planning a Casino Safari Trip to New Zealand – What You Need to Know!

New Zealand may be fairly remote for most travellers, all the way at the bottom of the world, yet in recent years, NZ has managed to gain a much stronger foothold on the world map. New Zealand, “Land of the Long White Cloud”, is probably most famous for its breath taking natural scenery which includes incredible mountain ranges, dramatic weather, rugged and awe-inspiring scenery.

However, this is also the birth place of extreme sports including bungy jumping, is home to several extreme sports including BASE jumping and is an official leg of the X Games world tour. Fans of a certain fantasy film franchise also make regular pilgrimages to NZ, touring the real Hobbit village and other key LOTR landmarks. Of course, New Zealanders also love a bit of casino gambling, which includes both brick and mortar as well as online casino gaming. Although, fair warning, be sure to do your research at review sites like NZOnlineCasinos.co.nz before venturing or adventuring in to the sometimes complicated world of online casinos.

While places like Las Vegas and Atlantic City still hold sway in popular culture, thanks to movies like Oceans 11 and the Hangover, newer and fresher options including New Zealand are quickly gaining preference, particularly with the new generation of gamblers.

Planning a ‘casino safari’ to New Zealand can be incredibly fun, and is a great addition to your itinerary if you enjoy the outdoors or extreme sports. It can also be a thing all on its own if you don’t. Either way, you’re bound to get a lot more than you bargained for. Before you head out the door for some quality roulette or blackjack gaming in the land next to down under, take a look at what we’ve managed to dig up on New Zealand casinos, both real and virtual.

New Zealand Brick and Mortar Casinos You Need to Try!

New Zealand consists of two main islands, the North Island and the South Island. The North Island includes New Zealand’s capital city Wellington, as well as other large cities including Auckland and Hamilton. The South Island’s main cities include Christchurch, Timaro and Dunedin. Some of NZ’s best brick and mortar casinos are spread over both islands, so it’s best to separate them to make your itinerary a bit easier to plan.

Top North Island Casinos

  1. Sky City Casino – Auckland
  2. Sky City Casino – Hamilton
  3. Te Kapua Racecourse – Stratford
  4. Pukekohe Park – Pukekohe

The last two on this list are not strictly casinos but full race tracks which include restaurants, bars and some casino entertainment. Still worth a visit just to enjoy a true New Zealand day at the races.

Top South Island Casinos

  1. Christchurch Casino – Christchurch
  2. Sky City Casino – Queenstown
  3. Sky City Wharf Casino – Queenstown
  4. Addington Raceway – Christchurch

Online Casino Gaming in New Zealand

Of course, Kiwis (local name for people from New Zealand) love all sorts of gambling and gaming, from betting on the horses to playing classic casino table games like roulette, blackjack and poker. They also love slots which they call ‘pokies’ and you can find tons of special pokie halls and venues in bars all over New Zealand.

Online gambling in New Zealand is huge and growing bigger every day. The scene is such that New Zealand is rated as one of the fastest growing online gambling sectors in the world. Millions of Kiwis play their favourite pokies online every day and this is a great way to get some extra gaming in whilst traveling through the country.
