It can be really difficult to get into the Christmas spirit in Miami, where we rarely see a significant drop in temperature in the fall, and the changing of the colors never happens as it does throughout the rest of the East Coast. In order to get into the Christmas spirit, I love to decorate the house and the first thing I bring out of storage are our Christmas stockings and the collection of Christmas ornaments I’ve acquired over the years. The one year I decided to go with a matchy-matchy decor theme on our Christmas tree was the last. It was SO boring!
So this year, we are back to using our hodge podge of ornaments, and of course, we had to add a few new ones in honor of my nieces and nephew! My plan is to have them take the ornaments home when they come to exchange Christmas gifts!
Hanging our Christmas ornaments is my favorite part of decorating for the holidays. My Nana used to make all kinds of holiday decorations, and my great-aunt followed her lead, so we have lots of personal Christmas ornaments that have been passed down to us. Those are the first thing to go on my tree because they bring back so many happy childhood memories! Of course we also have Angeline’s ornaments that she has made in school over the years. She loves looking at ornaments that she made when she a little girl, even though she’s only 16, she still feels that nostalgia too! She always tells me that she is going to take her “Baby’s First Christmas” ornament with her when she moves out and starts her own family. We will see about that…
So you guys know that I only have one child, and sometimes that can be really depressing – especially during the holidays. I love spoiling my nieces and nephews, but Angeline’s dad’s side of the family have all become teenagers already and they’re not as easy to thrill during the holidays. Instead of just giving them plain old gift cards, this year I am giving them personalized Christmas ornaments from Personal Creations – aren’t these Sock Monkey ornaments cute?
I’m going to give them a little gift bag with the ornaments and their gift cards instead of just handing them a card…it just feels more like a real Christmas present when there’s something in the package!

My sister’s three kids are still young enough that they get super excited to see what’s in their stocking, and I am taking full advantage of that this year!
I got each one of them a personalized Christmas stocking from Personal Creations, aren’t they adorable?
I can’t wait to see the smiles on their faces when they see these adorable character Christmas stockings, and of course, all of the goodies I put inside for them!
Of course, I had to get Angeline a new stocking too!
