You've suffered through the winter months, saved, and worked overtime at work. Now, it's time to head out on that tropical vacation you've been dreaming about for years. While you might be in a hurry to hit the beach, you still have to pack first, so slow down and follow the tips below for easy packing.
Roll, Don't Fold
Whether you're packing your jeans, swimsuits, or your designer resort wear, it's important to roll it, instead of folding it to put it in your suitcase. Not only does it give you more space in your bag, but it also ensures your clothes don't wrinkle as easily. After all, who wants to spend their vacation ironing before they head out for a night at the clubs?
Go Conservative with the Shoes
Even the shoes that you find the most comfortable can give you blisters if you're traveling and doing a lot of walking. While it's a good idea to bring cute shoes, such as heels, for those short trips, such as out to dinner, it's essential to have comfortable shoes for the rest of the time. Choose your travel shoes wisely, and make sure they are broken in well before you leave for your vacation for the best results.
Don't Leave Out the Skincare Products
While it may be tempting to leave out your exfoliator or your moisturizer to pack more of the other things you want to take on your trip, it's not a good idea. Don't skimp on packing the skincare products, and that includes body wash and other essentials that you usually use as a part of your routine. Remember, taking care of your skin is part of taking care of your health, so it's essential to tend to, even when you're on vacation.
Don't Panic
It's really easy to become overwhelmed when getting ready to leave on vacation. Your mind is being pulled in a zillion different directions at once, and it's hard to get everything accomplished and pack at the same time. Packing for your vacation doesn't have to something you despise and dread doing. Not if you don't leave it to the last minute. If you can pack a little at a time over the week before you're scheduled to go, then you'll have only a few essentials to toss into your carry on bag left to take care of.
Make a Packing List
While this might seem like a no-brainer, it bears talking about. You would be shocked at how many people don't use a packing list for going on vacation. It's the best way to keep yourself organized and make sure you're not forgetting anything. It doesn't have to be a fancy list. You can create one on your phone, print one off your computer, or jot it on the back of an envelope. The thing is to have that packing list handy, so you get everything done in record time with minimal stress involved.
Don't Try to Pack Everything and the Kitchen Sink
The saying about packing everything and the kitchen sink can become a reality way too quickly when you're packing for vacation. Remember, it is possible to buy some of the things you don't pack or forget. Chances are, however, if you use the packing list above, you're not going to forget anything. One foolproof way to not pack too much is to put everything you're packing on the bed, then step back, look at it, and put back the things that are not essential to your trip. Do you really need all ten of those bestselling novels you just brought or could you do with three or four?
Packing for vacation doesn't have to be hard, stressful, or overwhelming. Follow the tips above, and you'll be having fun in the sun in no time at all.
