Home organization is one of those things that we can all use a little help with, or at least I know that I do. Angeline and I are redecorating the house, so my home is more storage locker that house right now...I have so much stuff everywhere! I'm currently using some great tips from Marie Kondo's eBay decluttering guide on how to make home organization easier and how to let it go with eBay!
Home Organization is Easier with a Plan
eBay has partnered with Marie Kondo, world-renowned organizational expert and best-selling author of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, to develop 15 brand new tidying tips exclusively for eBay. The tips are available for download exclusively at eBay.com/sellitnow, featured in the “People Want What You Got” section of eBay’s website serving as an ongoing resource for parents to download.
Using her tips, you can de-clutter your home and discover money that might be hiding where you least expect it. It's a great incentive to jump into home organization head-first. You can tidy up your home and then sell your items on eBay to make an extra few bucks for the holidays - or for new home decor!
Home Organization Begins with You
Focus on organizing your own things and space first. Identify all of the things in your space that make you happy. Then take a look at the rest. If it's not bringing you joy, why do you have it? Approach everything you own like this, and then you can help the rest of the family. Your progress might even inspire them! I began going through the odds and ends I've collected over the years (collectibles, knick knacks, etc) and began setting things aside that just don't go with my current home decor, then Angeline started going through her clothing and decorative items in her bedroom - we are like two organizing fools right now!
Go Room by Room
Home organization is a process for every room in the house. In the kitchen, get rid of anything that you don't love and you don't use. Do you really need three kitchen timers, or a collection of Winnie the Pooh colanders? No, you don't! That same philosophy holds true for the rest of the house as well. If you have a nice item that you don't love, sell it on eBay instead of letting knock around the house.
Sell it on eBay
eBay has members around the globe, and there's no end to what you can sell. So many buyers means that there might be a person out there looking for what you're listing. eBay is easier than ever to use as well, with an easier, more personalized browsing and buying experience. And it just got even more simple!
You can make home organization and eBay selling even easier with eBay Valet. It's a professional selling service offering new, simple ways to sell your items on eBay. All you have to do is visit the , request and print a free postage-paid shipping label and ship your items in any box. Your items will be on sale for up to 60 days, and you will get up to 80% of the item's selling price. If the item sells for under $50, you earn 60% of the sale price, if it sells for between $50 and $200, you'll earn 70% of the sale price, and if it sells for over $200, you'll earn 80%. Those sound like a great cut of the profits considering you have zero work involved in the process!
If the item doesn't sell, it will be shipped back to you at no cost. This is such an awesome way to sell goods on eBay because you don't have to do ANYTHING. They take the photos, they write the descriptions - they really do it all! ALL you have to do is sit back and wait and see if it sells and for how much! This is a great service for someone like me who travels quite a bit. I have been selling things on eBay for over a decade, but lately it's difficult to get to the post office to ship sold items within the customary shipping time because of my travel schedule. With the eBay Valet service, I can just ship them all of the things I want to sell and jet off to wherever I am going and let them handle it for me! I am all about working smarter, not harder.
It pays to use eBay. The average household has 52 extra or unused items worth more than $4,000 in the home. Clothing, handbags, and shoes are bestsellers, and previous generation tech like iPads, iPhones, and video games are always a good choice to sell on eBay. I have a small collection of cameras, smart phones and electronics that I've been given to review on the blog, or just old stuff that I've replaced with items I've received from blogging that I like better. Seriously, I have a drawer full of the stuff - and now I know exactly how to sell it without the hassle!
