You may have read my previous post about my desire to get in better shape so that I can compete in the Warrior Dash this December. I was completely serious about that.
I don’t know how it happened, but my family fell down the slippery slope to bad eating habits this year. Sure, I still cook most of our meals from scratch, but my cabinets have become over stuffed with baked goods, chips, dips, etc.
And unfortunately, our waistlines show it.
While are all making an effort to fit more exercise into our daily lives, we also need to change our eating habits. I’ve steadily removed the processed carbs and junk food from our kitchen and now only buy that stuff for special occasions (like our Labor Day BBQ).
I was introduced to a brand I’d never heard of before just recently – Attune Foods. They are an all-natural food company with a great product line – they even have Gluten Free foods!
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy their cereal! I am not a huge breakfast person, because I am usually rushing around the house getting my daughter ready for school, feeding the dogs and cats, etc. But I make an effort to sit down with my daughter and eat breakfast every morning – otherwise, she’d likely skip it!
I introduced Attune Foods into the house by starting off with a cereal very similar to one that we already eat. Except this is a healthier, more natural version. I’m talking about Uncle Sam Strawberry cereal; it’s toasted whole wheat berry flakes and flax seed with strawberries.
I won’t go into the details of what’s in the national brand cereal that’s very similar to this, because honestly, half of those scientific words are so complex that I would probably misspell them!
But here’s the ingredients list for the Uncle Sam Strawberry cereal from Attune Foods:
- Toasted Whole Wheat Berry Flake (whole wheat kernels, salt, barely malt)
- Evaporated Cane Juice
- Freeze Dried Strawberries
- Natural Strawberry Flavor
Do you notice something? Like a lack of any fake ingredients? No artificial sweetners, no red dye #6 – just wholesome ingredients!
For a 3/4 cup serving, there are 240 calories. And those aren’t empty calories like you see in regular cereals. Take a look at what’s in those calories: 105 mg Potassium, 8 g soluble fiber, 7 g protein and a bit of Vitamin C, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron and Phosphorus! And the best part? It tastes good!!
Now that I’ve seen how great the cereal is from Attune Foods, I’m on a mission to find their other products too! My grocery store only carries the cereal so I am scouting the other stores near me to see what they carry. I can’t wait to find their Attune probiotic chocolate bars!
Are you trying to eat healthier? Would you like to try out the Attune Foods product line? Well, you’re in luck because the good people at Attune Foods are giving 5 free product coupons to one of my lucky readers!
