I know a lot of people have been drooling over the new Nokia Lumia 1020 and 1520, and sadly, they were exclusive to AT&T...but now Nokia has announced that they have created a new Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon Wireless customers!

nokia lumia icon for Verizon Wireless

Like the Nokia Lumia 1020 and 1520 for AT&T, the Nokia Lumia Icon runs on a Windows 8 Platform and has a totally awesome camera. The Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon is the smartphone for those who need it all in a tidy little powerhouse of a phone!

The Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon has a state-of-the-art 1080p full HD screen, which fits perfectly in the palm of your hand with a five inch screen. Made with a sturdy metal shell, it's sleek and stylish, which means you may not want to cover it all up with a big clunky case.

Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon Wireless

The Nokia Lumia Icon features a thin and light frame, enriched with premium design touches, including an aluminum construction with ceramic keys.

The Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon weighs just 5.8 oz and measures 5.39” x 2.79” x 0.39”, which means it's big enough to give you a great display but isn't so big that it's difficult to use. When I am traveling, I like to have a smaller phone that it easy to use on the go with just one hand. I see the sizing of the Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon being perfect for handling my work emails and social media while running around on press trips!

The Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon Camera & Audio

The Nokia Lumia Icon has a  20-megapixel camera, which is based on Nokia’s award-winning PureView technology and Zeiss optics. This is the same camera I have in my Nokia Lumia 1520, which captures absolutely breathtaking photos!

The Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon also has incredible video capabilities, with four lossless microphones that capture omnidirectional audio in full stereo! Being a total newb at doing video, I can't really compound on that from personal experience, but I'm told this mean that you have high-performance digital mics, noise reduction and magical software algorithms built right into the phone.

Nokia put the Nokia Lumia Icon to the test against two super loud muscle cars racing down a Las Vegas speedway.

Check out the video yourself to see how the device fared against the background noise!

    Nokia Lumia Icon Features

Nokia Lumia Icon features a quad-core processor with 2.2 GHz and a full HD OLED display and a 2,420 mAh battery that supports built-in wireless charging. Say what? Yep, it's pretty high tech! I find that I can go two days without charging my Nokia Lumia 1520, so I expect the Icon to be comparable.

There's also 32GB of onboard storage and 7GB of cloud storage space provided by Microsoft SkyDrive.

The Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon has a 20-megapixel sensor and Carl Zeiss optics, and a wide-angle lens and single-finger 2x lossless zoom. With an aperture of f/2.4, Lumia Icon’s camera lets in more light for great photos in low-light settings. Say goodbye to those crappy mobile photography shots you've been trying to pass off as "great" on Instagram. This camera will deliver amazing results - all right from your phone!

    Sectional4

The new Nokia Lumia Icon features Nokia ClearBlack Technology and Sunlight Readability Enhancement, allowing you to clearly see the display with little glare or reflection, even in direct sunlight. If you want to keep your fingers warm while using your phone, the Lumia Icon allows you to fully use while wearing gloves with its super-sensitive, curved Gorilla Glass 3 touch display with 441ppi and virtually 180o viewing angle.

I have the Nokia Lumia 2520, which I received as a gift from Nokia while I was in Vegas {full disclosure, y'all}. Nokia is saying that the new Nokia Lumia Icon will be the perfect companion to the Lumia 2520, which I am really excited about!! The Nokia Lumia 2520 was Nokia's first Windows tablet, and it is pretty fabulous. It runs on the Snapdragon platform with Windows 8, and kind of makes my old iPad 2 look like a chump!

The Nokia Lumia 2520 and Nokia Lumia Icon both have a multi-screen experience using apps such as Nokia Storyteller and Nokia Video Director, so they work wonders together! With NFC built-in to each device, transferring files, pictures and videos couldn’t be any easier!

    So what about the apps?

Along with a full Microsoft Office integration, the Nokia Lumia Icon features all the latest apps available for Windows Phone 8:

    • Instagram
    • Vine
    • Mint
    • Nokia Mix Radio
    • Redbox Instant
    • Beats Music
    • Waze
    • HERE Drive and HERE Maps

The Nokia Lumia Icon will go on sale on Thursday, February 20 at your local Verizon Wireless store and online andVerizonWireless.com for a price of $199.99 with a two-year activation.

Microsoft Stores are taking pre-orders for Lumia Icon and offering a free Nokia Wireless Charging accessory for those that purchase before March 16, 2014.

Looks like a great phone. Wonder if it'll come to other networks?

It seems that Nokia is developing different phones for different networks. For instance, they just came out with the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the 1520 last year for AT&T (I believe they were the only networks to get them). It will be interesting to see if there's any crossover!

No kidding! I used the Nokia Lumia 1520 when I was on the press trip in Kissimmee two weeks ago as my sole method of working! I forgot my laptop charger cable so I ended up doing blog posts and everything from my cell because the screen was nice and big 🙂

No kidding, right? I have been leaving my DSLR at home ever since I got the Nokia Lumia 1520, it has the same camera as this one. Those photos look AMAZING! The only thing I can't get the same results as with a DSLR are my food photography because I use the Macro setting.

Wow, the Nokia Lumia Icon sounds awesome. I'll be buying a new phone and switching providers in a couple of months. I may have to rethink a Windows phone!

You should! I keep hearing that people are nervous about using Windows 8, but it's such a clean operating system. I don't experience a lot of the glitches I did with my iPhone!
