I can't imagine life without our menagerie of fluffy companions. In the absence of tiny tots running around the house, our cats and dogs bring so much joy into my life! But the downside to all of those fluffy snuggles is that they leave behind a big old mess. Whether it's Foxy getting into the garbage...
Or Tarzan and Gizmo just shedding all over the house...
Or Bailey and Toby having a fur-pulling wrestling match, there is never a shortage of junk to clean up in the Quillen household!
As you can imagine, I use a lot of Swiffer products around the house. I would be lost without their Swiffer Dusters, dry cloths and wet cloths - I use them in every room in the house to keep the pet hair and dander at bay! When the new Swiffer Sweep & Trap was announced, I knew I had to have it, so I was excited to be asked to do a review here on the blog!
What is the Swiffer Sweep and Trap?
The Swiffer Sweep and Trap is like the regular Swiffer Sweeper combined with a manual vacuum, specially designed to be used on hard floors. we have wood laminate throughout the house, with the exception of the family room and bathroom, which are tiled. So this is pretty perfect for us. If you have carpet, this won't be any different for you than the regular Swiffer products - it won't really work on carpet.
The Swiffer Sweep and Trap uses rotating blades similar to a vacuum cleaner to pick up large particles, which it then flicks into a dirt bin. But at the same time, the attached Swiffer Sweeper dry cloth traps dirt, dust and hair that your regular brooms usually leave behind. It's pretty genius, it's like a Swiffer Sweeper and vacuum all in one!
The Swiffer Sweep & Trap uses the same dry cloths as the Swiffer Sweeper, so you don't have to start using anything new. It’s lightweight, compact and has an ergonomic handle that is really easy to use.
The rotating blades and dirt bin are easily removed for cleaning and just as easy to reattach. No batteries or power is required so it’s just as quick to use as a broom, but it’ll give you a much better clean because the dry cloths pick up all those tiny particles of dust that brooms always leave behind.
You can see in this picture the hairballs and pieces of leaves that it caught while I was Swiffering the office. Don't ask how they got in there...with the dogs constantly in and out all day, I'm sometimes surprised by what I find on our floors! At least there aren't any feathers this time...don't ask! ha!
The new Swiffer Sweep and Trap did a great job of cleaning up the floors. After being in Vegas for a week, they were in dire need of cleaning, believe me!
You can pick up your own Swiffer Sweep and Trap at your local Walmart, they are due to hit stores any day now, as they were slated for a mid-January release! You can even try the Swiffer Sweep and Trap risk free, with Swiffer's fantastic money-back guarantee. You can find out more about that here.

So, I totally need one of these. Not just for my dog, either - for my kids, too LOL 😉 I use Swiffer products a lot anyways and they are awesome!

i'd be lost without our furry friends in the house. our kittens aren't big shedders but they do make messes. tobey, the dog though? holy moly. he sheds around the clock. i'm not sure how he HAS fur anymore!
Ellen Christian
That definitely does sound handy. We have 3 cats so I understand about fur!
Jessica
I need one of these! With two dogs in our home there tends to be pet hair in places we don't even realize. Last month we moved the couch away from the wall to find enough hair to knit a children's sweater!
Lauren Hochleutner
OMG I need this!! I am constantly brushing my mini aussie's hair and he still leaves clumps of hair around the house!
Janel
Oh man! My kids do the exact same thing - track trash everywhere!!
Lindsey
What a great upgrade to a swiffer device. Like you, we have lots of furry animals, and even a regular swiffer can't trap and contain ALL THAT HAIR.
Mitch
I love Swiffer products! Although to be truthful, I leave t for the cleaning lady now!

I know firsthand how difficult it can be to keep hardwood floors clean, especially with a dog in the house. I must try this new Swiffer product!
Paige
I have one of the old swiffers. I might have to upgrade soon.
Liz
That's nice that it moves the larger particles into a bin so they're not messing with the cleaning cloth's ability to wipe up the floor. I like this contraption!
Melinda
i love the swiffer dust clothes, they work great for the window blinds. we could us a swiffer sweeper for all the crumbs the kids leave behind
Shell
This Swiffer looks like it would be very useful to have around. I don't have any pets, but I do have three boys and they love to make messes.
Melissa
This looks amazing. Since we have hardwood floors and a dog, this looks like a must!

What a fantastic idea! We have 4 indoor cats and lots of hardwood flooring. Everything gets trapped in the corners and by the baseboards.
Felicia
We love swiffer! That trap is definitely needed at this house full of pets.
Jaime
We also have laminate flooring throughout our house and love Swiffer products. They're so easy - and effective!
Amy Desrosiers
Wow, this is a pet lovers best friend! I bet it would be great for kids too! I think my 19 month old makes bigger messes than my dog!
Ashley
I love Swiffer products! This looks great for hard surfaces; we have both wood and tile and are always looking for a better clean.
Candy Olivares
Swiffer never ceases to amaze me!! Looks like an awesome product!!
Lolo
We loved using Swiffer when we had hardwood floors in our old house.

I find it appalling at how much sand and hair my boxer can manage to track into the house. We also have a swiffer (although not this latest model) to help cut down on her mess.
KIM
I'll second that. We have 3 dogs and our lab is the worst sheddar!! It works great!!
April
Your pets are adorable! This looks like a great product. I'll have to check it out!
Stefani
I need to try one of these in my house. I have tile floors and two dogs. One of my dogs sheds so this would be perfect.
Courtney Pies
Oh my goodness, with two dogs and two cats (plus a child) we could totally use this new Siwffer Sweep! I will definitely be checking one of these out very soon!
Autumn
This looks like a fantastic product for pet lovers! It looks like you've got your share of fur around the home.
Harlynn
My aunt always had one or two dogs, and like 6 cats.
I lived with her for a minute, and the swiffer definitely did the trick!!
