When I am dieting – which is always – I struggle to find healthier alternatives to soda and juice. A girl can only drink so much water in a day! I decided to switch things up with the new Omega Infusion zero calorie drinks and they provide a nice little variety when I get tired of plain old H2O!
Omega Infusion is a zero calorie beverage that comes in four different flavors: Berry, Fruit Punch, Orange and Citrus. My favorites so far are the Orange and Citrus!
Aside from them actually tasting good, what I love about the Omega Infusion drinks is that each one contains 80 mg of healthy Omega-3s (EPA/DHA) and they provide natural energy that comes from B vitamins and Vitamin C. With the restrictive list of foods I can eat on my weight loss plan, I am missing out on a lot of nutrients and have to take a daily multivitamin as well as get biweekly B12 shots.
There are many times when I begin to feel sluggish towards the end of the day, and drinking an Omega Infusion helps with that sluggish feeling!
You might be wondering why I’m so psyched about a drink that has Omega-3. Aside from helping to reduce your appetite and make you feel more satisfied, Omega-3s can help reduce stress and fatigue, as well as increase your mental focus. One of my main issues with my current diet plan is that I often feel frazzled and distracted. When I read that Omega-3s can help you maintain mental focus, I was really looking forward to feeling that benefit!
While I can’t vouch for the appetite reduction because part of my weight loss plan includes medicine that already suppresses my appetite, I can say that I do feel more clearheaded since I’ve been drinking Omega Infusion each afternoon! While I was in Kissimmee last weekend, I did not take my Omega Infusions with me (I wasn’t checking baggage) and I felt the difference by the second day! Each time I went up in the elevator each evening, I completely forgot to press my floor button. So embarrassing!
The FDA qualified health benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids is probably the single most important benefit: a reduced risk of coronary heart disease. Being a woman, as well as a former smoker, this is very important to me. Did you know that women are more likely to suffer from heart disease than men? Smokers, male or female, are more likely to develop heart disease as well – so I have both of those things working against me!
Scientific studies are constantly discovering new potential benefits from Omega-3!
A few possible benefits of Omega-3s include:
- Improvement of cognitive function in both children and adults
- Help with psychiatric disorders such as depression
- Reduced macular degeneration
- Strengthened red blood cells which may improve blood pressure, heart rate and vascular function
- Possible anticancer benefits
While Omega Infusion zero-calorie drinks are currently only available at Giant Stores, Stop & Shop and HEB stores, I am keeping my fingers crossed that they come to our local grocery stores, Publix and Winn-Dixie!
