Our work force is something that we too often take for granted. This post is one of many I’ve done for Kronos, and I’m always happy to participate. The members of this nation’s work force are the unsung heroes of day to day life, and I love that Kronos spotlights the hard work and determination of individuals across so many different aspects of the working class.
Our Work Force Works! Kronos Respects That
Kronos respects the working class. They should. They’re the leader in work force management solutions. These are the behind the scene guys of the behind the scene workers, managing time and attendance records, worker’s schedules, absence records, HR and payroll, hiring, labor analytics and more. Basically, if it has to do with the working class, Kronos is probably managing it. This gives them a unique insight into how important the men and women who make the cogs turn in this great big machine are.
That’s also why they’re the driving force behind the 1 in one hundred million web series. This web series is devoted to sharing the personal stories of people who do the important – and usually unseen – work that keeps everything in our communities and in our nation humming. This series pays homage to the character, commitment, and passion of today’s work force.
1 in One Hundred Million Episode 15: Mike Perez
The latest installment of the 1 in one hundred million web series is focused on sous chef of Hearty Boys Catering in Chicago, Mike Perez. Mike is the heart and soul of Hearty Boys, second only to head chef. But it wasn’t always like that.
Mike didn’t always make the best decisions, and those poor decisions eventually landed him in prison. While he was serving his time, he worked in the kitchen. He discovered quite quickly that cooking not only brought him joy, it also helped him focus on good things and good choices. After his release in May of 2006, Mike knew that he wanted to continue a life centered around the kitchen.
Good fortune smiled on Mike, and out of 330 applicants, he and 19 other people were chosen for the Silver Fork program developed by Hearty Boys owners, Dan and Steve. This program helps find employment for at-risk folks returning to life on the outside.
Since that time, Mike has been cheffing the off-premises catering, occasionally working the line at the restaurant, and generally help Hearty Boys with its massive catering business which serves everything from Bat Mitzvahs to Christmas parties to intimate dinner parties and more. In addition to that, with the help and encouragement of Hearty Boys co-founder, Dan, Mike has also developed his own produce business, supplying fresh produce to 15 restaurants and bringing his upbeat, energetic passion for food to Hearty Boys and his customers. He is a true success story of the work force and what it does for this country.
