I’ve been a fan of Marzetti products for a long time. In an effort to reduce our consumption of processed foods and preservatives, I began trying the line of Marzetti salad dressings a few years ago – and I have to say, fresh does make a big difference.
When you buy a bottle of salad dressing that has to be in the chilled produce department, what does that say about its quality over the leading national brands that can sit on a refrigeration shelf for two years? You can assume that it is going to taste better and be better for you.
And you would be right in that assumption.
I recently tried Marzetti’s Simply Dressed Ranch salad dressing for the first time and I have to say…it was fantastic. I wasn’t surprised because I’ve never been disappointed in Marzetti!
I hadn’t tried this particular product from Marzetti yet, so I had to do my research and find out exactly what set it apart from other salad dressings. The first thing I discovered was that it was aptly named “Simply Dressed” – the salad dressings are all natural, made with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and canola oil, which provides omega-3. And since they’re all natural salad dressings, they don’t contain preservatives, trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, MSG and artificial flavors.
Talk about the perfect salad dressing! I kept my fingers crossed that they would be just as great-tasting as the other salad dressings I’ve come to love from Marzetti…and I was not disappointed.
The first thing I noticed about the Simply Dressed dressing was its consistency. It wasn’t quite as thick as what I was used to, which caused quite a bit of over spill on my salad! Oops! I love dipping cucumbers and tomatoes in ranch, so I just scooped up the overage with a spoon and set it in a dish to use as a dip later. Problem solved!
I used Marzetti Simply Dressed for my salads, to dip my veggies in, even for my daughter to use as a dip for her carrots. Even though it’s a salad dressing, it’s perfect for drizzling over veggies too! At 110 calories per serving (which is two teaspoons), it has 12 grams of fat, 20 grams of cholesterol, 250 grams of sodium, 2 grams of carbohydrate, 1 gram of sugar and 1 gram of protein. It is the ingredients that impress me: canola oil, buttermilk, water, salted egg yolk, distilled vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, sugar, sea salt, garlic, onion, xanthan gum, spices…and that is it!
I was one of the bloggers selected by T. Marzetti Company and Clever Girls Collective to host a Marzetti Simply Dressed review. They provided me with product to test myself and compensation for my time. However, my opinions are entirely my own.
