Oh, Iron Man, how I love thee. Let me count the ways:
Iron Man 1
Iron Man 2
Iron Man 3!!
Hitting retailers on September 24th is Iron Man 3, available in a 3D Super Set, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, Digital Copy as well as through On Demand! Are you excited yet? You should be! I was sent a special screening copy of the new Iron Man 3 in 2D Blu-ray to watch prior to the official release. I have to tell you, Chris and I were just as excited to watch Iron Man 3 at home on our big screen in Blu-ray as we were at the theaters earlier this year!
If you haven’t seen Iron Man 3 yet, just be warned that I am going to talk about some major spoilers!
Iron Man 3 picks up after Marvel’s The Avengers – after Tony Stark went through the wormhole and basically saved the entire world. But the movie begins with Tony on a distant New Year’s Eve, seducing a lady scientist while simultaneously alienating another dude. We see Happy as Tony’s bodyguard and friend, even back then! So fast forward to modern day: Tony’s not sleeping, he’s creating a ton of new Iron Man suits, and he’s having issues with Piper because of his mental instability. Meanwhile, Piper is approached by an old coworker who wants funding for his rejuvenation project, and of course she turns him down because it could be used as a weapon.
How right she is! The world is suddenly being attacked by a crazed lunatic, The Mandarin. Somehow, Happy is a casualty in one of the Mandarin’s attacks, and Tony publicly announces that he wants the Mandarin to come and get him – and he does exactly that!
Once that happens, it just total nonstop chaos, action sequences and leave you hanging by the seat of your pants scenes. Tony almost dies, Piper gets kidnapped, Tony’s house is destroyed – it’s total madness! The special effects are just amazing and you’re totally going to be blown away!
Tony ends up in a small town in Tennessee, where it seems the Mandarin may have made his first attack. Tony makes friends with a young boy and he ends up facing some of the Mandarin’s guys and girls and discovers exactly how the Mandarin is making his attacks. The boy helps him prepare to take on the Mandarin – without his Iron Man suit!! – and then he sets off to find and bring down the Mandarin.
I won’t tell you everything that happens once he finds him, but rest assured, it’s hysterical, heart-wrenching and jaw-dropping. It’s nothing short of amazing, and the last 30 minutes of Iron Man 3 pretty much cemented it as my all-time favorite action movie ever. Sorry, Die Hard.

Iron Man 3 is just one of those movies that you have to own on Blu-ray – or 3D if you have that! Everything is better in Blu-ray, right? The bonus features are awesome, especially the behind-the-scenes look at Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World. I can’t wait to see it!!
The gag reel was pretty funny too, and Chris and I really enjoyed watching the extended and deleted scenes. It’s amazing how much is left on the editing room floor!
