This post was created as part of a relationship in which I was sponsored by Weight Watchers and given a free three month subscription to try their new Personal Coaching product and write about my experience. Though I was compensated for my time and commitment, all views, positive and negative, are my own. #WeightWatchers #WWsponsored
I'm heading into my fifth month of the Weight Watchers Personal Coaching program, and as I shared in my last post, 8 Things I've Learned About Weight Loss, I've learned a lot about weight loss, exercise and the many benefits of the Weight Watchers program. You know what else I've learned? Weight loss isn't a race, and diets don't work for me. What DOES work for me, however, is a slow, gradual change in my lifestyle with help along the way - which is exactly the path I'm walking with the Weight Watchers Personal Coaching program!
I would love to say that I joined the Weight Watchers Personal Coaching program and followed all of their recommendations, used all of their features and spoke to my coach every week and got down to my ideal weight in the five months I've been on the program.
I would love to say that.
But...this is real life, folks. And I am lazy. And I love food...and I lost my iPhone the day I landed in South Africa, which meant that I didn't have the Weight Watchers app for iPhone at my disposal...but I sure had a lot of excuses, can you tell? If I am completely honest, I lost my phone and I took basically used that as a free pass to disregard my program and fall back into my old bad habits. I was all, "No accountability! Different zip code, so it's not cheating!"
After around day four of my ten day trip, my pants started getting a little tight and I was brought back to my senses. I realized that all of those foods I was eating in South Africa...would follow me back to the U.S.A. So I started loading up my lunch and dinner plates with lots of vegetables. I ate small servings of dessert and skipped the second helping.
I stopped eating all of the pastries for breakfast and stuck to fresh fruits, protein and yogurt - with more fruit! See that one little slice of bacon? Of course I would like to eat five or six more...but I became determined to stick to foods that I knew were aligned with my Weight Watchers program, even though I had no access to the app.
Fruits and veggies are mostly zero PointsPlus, and I didn't have to worry about tracking them without the app, so I tried to make them a large part of every meal.
I am home now and getting back into the swing of things. As soon as I came home, I chatted online with a Weight Watchers Personal Coach to help get me motivated, which really helped a lot! While I haven't reached my goal weight yet, I have not gained any weight in the past month, despite 10 days in Africa, a weekend in Los Angeles and a week in Orlando...this alone is a major accomplishment, and I owe it all to the Weight Watchers Personal Coaching program!
Plus, I FEEL good. It's amazing how great you feel once you start eating healthy food and getting daily exercise! Do you remember how much I've struggled with finding exercise that I like? Well, I bought myself a kayak for my birthday!
There are so many ways to get help with Weight Watchers Personal Coaching, whether it's on the phone during your weekly scheduled coaching session, a quick chat using the app, or merely using the many features the program has to offer online or through the app. I LOVE the Weight Watchers app!

It sounds like you've learned quite a lot and have discovered how to get yourself back on track even without the app. I'd say that's a huge win since long term weight loss is about developing a healthier lifestyle while it sounds like you are doing!
Melinda
thats great that you found your motivation again. I've never done weight watchers before but that sounds like a great program
Robin Rue (@massholemommy)
I know a lot of people in real life that this has worked for. I was able to lose weight on my own, but this is great for people who need a little bit more help 🙂

I've never tried Weight Watchers but I personally know a lot people that it has helped. I'm tempted to give it a shot because losing weight after my fifth kids has been more of a struggle.

Back before I got sick I used Weight Watchers to lose 50lbs and I think it's the best system out there. I kept the weight off for something like 7 years until my health went south and then between two surgeries and a medication that made me gain weight I was worse than where I started. Now, thankfully I'm t a healthy weight again.
Good for you for eating so healthily. It's hard when you're on vacation and all of those delicious foods are tempting you.

I have looked and looked at Weight Watchers but I don't think I have the will power. I don't think I am strong enough to say NO to the desserts. I might have to give it a try anyway. I think the app would be a huge help.

I signed up for WW with a friend of mine about a year ago. She did fantastically well... I... ummm... well... failed miserably LOL But but but - I never talked to my coach, so I only tried to do the counting points - and I would save up all of my points for the day worried I would go over - and then I would have too much left over at dinner... yeah, I sabotaged myself LOL

I love that Weight Watcher is realistic about dieting, not "faddish". This looks like a great time to join with that deal.
Robin Rue (@massholemommy)
I have a few friends that had a lot of success on WW. I have always been able to lose weight easily, though.
Stefani Tolson
I have never tried the Weight Watchers plan but have tried their foods. Would love to try this program one day to see if it would help me lose 15-20 pounds.
Lisa Ladrido
I have struggled with my weight since 2009. I have tried everything, except Weight Watchers! I just purchased a NordicTrack and started eating healthy using the Forks Over Knives App recipes. I am glad WW is working for you. I think the coach is very helpful to keep everyone accountable. When eating out I also ask for a take home box prior to eating the meal and put half away. That always helps too! Thank you for your great review, if my process stops working I will definitely check WW out!

Oh wow.. if I landed in a different place where the food was unique, I'd lose it also. So many great foods. Good job getting back on track.
Jaime
I've started tracking my food again. It's annoying and necessary. I love carbs so much!
The Mid-Atlantic Foodie
I have heard so many great things about Weight Watchers, maybe it's time for me to stop being a hearer and really look into their programs.
Amanda Love
I don't track what I eat and I don't really pay much attention to what I eat either. I do however eat healthy so not paying attention to weight but I need to especially since I'm getting older.
Pam
It sounds like you really learned a lot on this program. My problem is snacking. I need to stop that!
Jeanine
This seems like a great program. I recently got into the habit of eating healthy again. This would help me a lot!
Kristen from The Road to Domestication
I love the idea of Weight Watchers, and I've tried it several times. I never was able to lose more than a few pounds with it. I think because I'm gluten-free, and it's a bit difficult to modify.
touristmeetstraveler
Such a great goal to lose weight, it's very tough and I respect anyone who decides to make that choice in their life!
Pam
Sounds like a great program and one that works if you work it. Looks like they have lots of support too.
mburbage
That looks amazing! It looks so good. I hear so much good stuff about Weight watchers too
Rosey
I'm glad you're getting back into the swing of things. I'm so sorry to hear you lost your phone on your trip!

Losing weight is not an easy task. It takes a lot of commitment and changing lifestyle. I am glad you are back on track
Ann Bacciaglia
i have been trying to eat healthier this year. I have been thinking of joining Weight Watchers. The app would be a great tool.
Megan @ C'mon Get Crafty
I am stuck in a horrible rut with my weight right now. I've been simply awful about my exercise and eating habits.
Toughcookiemommy
I know so many people who have lost so much weight with Weight Watchers. It's a great program that has been proven to really work.
