Did you know that April 29 is # WorldWishDay? Help grant wishes that change the lives of wish kids by donating!

Make-A-Wish® is one of the leading children’s charities in the United States. Through the generosity of its donors and over 25,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish® grants a wish just about every 38 minutes. If you think about it, that's both incredibly wonderful and incredibly heartbreaking at the same time: Make-A-Wish® grants wishes to kids with life-threatening medical conditions.

No one likes to think about children facing life-threatening medical conditions, but it is the reason why Make-A-Wish® is so very important!

    #worldwishday

    Why is Make-A-Wish® so important?

In 2012 alone, Make-A-Wish granted almost 14,000 life-changing wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. These wish experiences are often a pivotal moment in a child’s treatment, helping them to feel better and in some cases, even help them get better. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, many of the health professionals surveyed believe that a wish-come-true can actually influence the physical health of wish kids. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illnesses, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family.

The thing is, nearly 75 percent of Make-A-Wish® wishes require air travel. Travel is often the most costly part of making these wishes come true each year, with approximately 50,000 airline tickets (the equivalent of 2.5 billion airlines miles or $37.5 million) needed each year to cover the cost of sending wish kids and their families to and from these incredible Make-A-Wish® experiences.

Beginning April 1 and culminating with World Wish Day® on April 29, Make-A-Wish® is running a nationwide campaign to raise dollars and airline miles to fund airline tickets for wishes that involve travel.

You can donate to Make-A-Wish® here or donate your frequent flier miles in this form here - even small amounts add up and can make a big difference in the life of a wish kid!

Your Mile Donation Matching Goes Further in April

United Airlines will support World Wish Day by matching the donations of its MileagePlus® members, up to 3 million miles, through April 30!

WWE® Superstar John Cena® will personally match every frequent flier mile donated in April - up to 4.5 million. WWE will also be promoting World Wish Day to its 143 million social media fans and 13 million weekly viewers in the United States.

    #worldwishday

Whether it's dollars or airline miles, donate what you can here - every bit makes a difference in the lives of these precious wish kids!

This year, 10,000 wish kids and their families will travel for a Make-A-Wish® experience. That's 50,000 roundtrip tickets or 2.5 billion frequent flier miles. In honor of World Wish Day®, the day of the wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish, visit wish.org/tickets and donate miles and dollars – and help wish kids take flight.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Make-A-Wish®. The opinions and text are all mine.
