Welcome to the world of Ozobot, a creative platform that teaches kids and techies of all ages robotics in a social and interactive way. When you think about robots you might envision the walking, talking type portrayed in movies. Ozobot is less like that as it has no arms or legs and doesn't speak. It's more like a digital game piece you can move through mazes, playgrounds on paper, and digital screens.
The best part is that Ozobot teaches code language, robotic behavior, and deductive reasoning under the clever guise of playing creative, strategic, and competitive games on a multi-dimensional environment.
While using Ozobot, users create unique maps, mazes and racetracks by drawing colored lines and color code patterns. Ozobot reads these as a programming language and moves throughout it's world by what the color codes tell it to do. Color patterns called OzoCodes are associated with specific moves that Ozobot understands and then performs. These OzoCodes include speeds like slow, fast, and turbo and directions such as go left, go straight, and go right among others.
There are even cool moves like the Tornado or ZigZag. All the color codes can be printed or downloaded until they are learned. If no specific directions have been given, Ozobot makes independent decisions using random logic algorithms which provides for a bit of randomness and unpredictability. Ozobot uses its ability to make random decisions to take different routes and paths for a unique experience.
Angeline's favorite part was to make Ozobot dance with the OzoGroove app. She created dance routines through a cool, innovative dance editor and then upload them to Ozobot. Hit the dance button and watch the Ozobot spin and twist a routine up to 500 movies to your favorite songs. Speaking of apps, dancing isn't the only thing Ozobot uses them for. There are a variety of free downloadable apps in the Ozobot Suite app including OzoDraw, OzoPath and OzoLuck that enable users to interact with Ozobot on Android and iOS tablets. Users learn more about how to use and manipulate Ozobot while having fun!

The Learn Zone accompanies Ozobot and introduces kids of all ages to programming including structured lessons around Core/STEM/STREAM curriculums. Ozobot ’s PhD team has developed a curriculum of 4 lessons, respecting core and STEM standards. Our first lesson, just in time for the #HourOfCode, is ready for download. Learners develop skills from basic robotic behavior to sequential programming and complex algorithms. All that is required to start is a few sheets of paper, color markers, and 2 Ozobots per 6 students.
