I’m Determined to Live The Good Life, No Matter What #GoodLife

This post brought to you by Allstate. All opinions are 100% mine.

You might have seen my blog post last week about finding out that a loved one was diagnosed with cancer. My point in the blog post was that regardless of the tragedy we are facing, I am determined to keep living life and to get through this, one day at a time.

Have you seen the new Allstate commercials? Allstate’s “Good Hands for the Good Life” commercial talks of how there are risks everywhere, but we as people don’t let it hold us back from making our lives good. Allstate is an insurance company that tries to build good in the lives of their customers, and I couldn’t help but feel personally connected to the Allstate Good Life message yesterday as we drove across the state to visit my loved one.

There is adversity and tragedy all around us, and no matter how happy we are in living the Good Life, things are bound to happen. I am so incredibly happy in my life right now! I have a beautiful, loving family, my blog business has grown by leaps and bounds, we are working on remodeling the house a bit, my husband is no longer traveling every month for work, my daughter has outgrown her emotional, moody teen phase and we are excited about really fantastic trips this summer.

If we aren’t living the Good Life, I don’t know who is!

I’ve been really struggling to find my joy in the days since finding out that my loved one is dying. Going to see them yesterday was so hard, but we did it because not knowing how much time they have left, every single day is a gift and we need to make the most of it. And you know what? It wasn’t bad at all. They were so happy to see us, we had a fun day together of hanging out on the patio while the kids played in the pool, the sun was shining and we had a great lunch together. We caught up on what’s been going on with Angeline in school, I filled them in on my trip to Mexico City – it was just, for lack of better words, the perfect day.

#goodlife

Instead of letting my grief and fear of losing my loved one keep me at home, sad and alone, I faced it head on and the results were beautiful.

That’s living the Good Life, no matter what.

I’m sure your loved one wouldn’t want to be the cause of you missing special times in your life with your family. Aside from the pain you know you’ll be experiencing in the near future, I’m so glad everything else is going so well for you!

I’m so sorry about your loved one- cancer is so horrible. It really does help to just focus on the good, as hard as that can be sometimes.
