While browsing the internet last night, I spent some time looking at home designs and floor plan layouts. I kept seeing dens and the like and I somehow contracted den-jealousy.
I want a den. I have no room for a den, but what I do have is a scarcely used family room that we currently use to store our Bowflex and snake.
Yeah, I said snake. I happen to like slithery things.
But I digress. I want to actually start using our family room - as a den. I already have a really comfy sectional sofa, coffee table in that space and uh...a Bowflex and snake. What I would love to do is arrange the sectional sofa so that it faces the far wall and install a TV in there and hook up all of my daughter's gaming equipment to that TV so that when friends come over, they don't have to stay in her bedroom. As she gets older, boys will start coming to "hang out" and I would much rather have them within eyesight.
I actually already have a spare TV, so I began looking at media storage and found this really nice piece! I am a sucker for the farmhouse style and this center is simply gorgeous - totally shabby chic!
My walls in that room are currently a light beige so this white center would really pop against the wall color - and my sofa is all soft, neutral browns and beige too!
I would definitely be open to a TV cabinet as well, to save on space. With just a cabinet to hold the TV, I would have a wonderful excuse to shop for matching bookshelves!
Or I could skip the classic media center altogether and go for a very streamlined, sexy flat panel TV stand like this one I've pictured below!
The nice thing about home ownership is that I have plenty of time to make up my mind. My home isn't going anywhere!
