I Feel Like John Wayne…in Jamaica

Though I’ve only been in Jamaica for two days, I’ve learned quite a bit!

For instance, I have it on very good authority that Bamboo makes a very good fishing pole – so long as you don’t catch a fish over 3 pounds.

While we were out and about exploring with Chukka Adventures of Sandy Bay today, I rode a horse for the first time in 20 years…My group rode around the countryside, traversing dangerous rivers (okay, fine, it was a puddle), through quaint villages and along the shoreline, and then we rode our horses…

INTO THE OCEAN.

And then my horse pooped. IN THE OCEAN. And I had to continue to ride it.

Yes, you guessed it – in the ocean. Ew.

I had no idea that horses could swim!

I also learned that in all-inclusive resorts, like the Grand Palladium (where my group stayed), you can walk into a sports bar at 11 and order a piña colada. I’ve decided that from now on, whenever possible, I’m staying at all-inclusive resorts when I travel. I feel like a rock star with my VIP bracelet, and not having to carry anything around except for my room card and my iPhone? Priceless!

I also learned that a full jacuzzi bath tub + bath gel + turning the jets on = instant bubble bath! Although, I was later informed that this is a recipe for disaster…so I may or may not attempt that again!

Jamaica rocks.

Awesome! Sounds like you are having an amazing time. I am so jealous, but hope you continue to have the best time ever! We used to ride horses and let them swim every summer when I went to camp. It was a blast.

I am surprised about the bamboo pole, I thought bamboo was supposed to be super strong!

I’m with Marianna — I thought bamboo was supposed to be strong too. And, I soooooo would have been off the horse if it started into the ocean!

Sounds like a great time. I’ve also heard that bath gel and jets can be disastrous. Ahh one day I’ll make it there.

I LOVE Jamaica. That’s where hubby proposed to me 13 years ago! I agree, all-inclusives are the way to go! I’ve always wanted to ride a through water on a horse SO JEALOUS! Minus the poop part.

Soak in some sun for me. Sounds like a great time, well, except for the horse pooping incident (shudder).
