This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Vitamin Angels. All opinions are 100% mine.
When spending time with my sisters and cousins, many of our sentences start with "Remember when we were kids...?" This is especially true during the holidays, as we share memories and generally laugh with - and at - each other over the crazy things we did in our youth. Some of my favorite memories are of hanging out with my sisters and cousins when I lived in Kentucky as a young child. We would bundle up and play in the snow, build snowmen, and even eat snow ice cream. My sister and I would sled down the small hill behind our home for hours!
While in Florida, my cousins and I would help decorate the Christmas tree, visit our huge extended family and of course attend all of the family parties!
Whether braving cold temperatures or the hugs and kisses of extended family members, I was very fortunate to be a healthy kid with a strong immune system. I was able to weather long, wet play days and family gatherings.
Some children aren't so lucky and lack the basic minerals and vitamins to keep them healthy. Vitamin Angels fills in the gaps for children whose diet lacks those necessary nutrients. Did you know that there are an estimated 190 million children under the age of five suffering from vitamin A deficiency? This is a serious issue that can weaken immune systems, cause childhood blindness, and worse!
Vitamin Angels provides supplementation to at-risk children, like those living in hard-to-reach areas with limited resources or poor sanitation. Developing countries are an especially common place where children lack nutrients, especially vitamin A, as often their families are unable to grow vitamin A rich foods or afford to buy them regularly. Vitamin A supplementation alone can reduce mortality among children 6 months to 59 months by 24%! Vitamin A Saves Lives!
Vitamin Angels aids at-risk populations in need, specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under the age of five in gaining access to lifesaving vitamins and minerals. In 2014, Vitamin Angels was able to reach 40 million children in 45 countries.
You can assist Vitamin Angels with their mission by donating to the U.S. Vitamin Angels fundraiser. Get involved. Donate now what you can this holiday season. Every little bit helps; even a donation of 25 cents can help reduce the mortality rate in at-risk children by providing one dose of Vitamin A twice a year. Even the smallest gift can change a child’s life!
In lieu of giving a gift to someone this holiday season, consider a donation to Vitamin Angels in their name. This provides a gift that lasts beyond the holidays and creates a legacy of giving. Individuals make a donation and receive a downloadable or shareable card that shows their donation to Vitamin Angels!
If you're worried about the amount of your donation that will actually reach the children in need, you'll be happy to hear that more than 90% of each donation goes to the Vitamin Angels program. Vitamin Angels is such an outstanding organization that it has received a 4-star rating for seven consecutive years by Charity Navigator!

It amazing how a small of any kind a donation made can go a long way to these kids in need. It is so worth it to donate and give back, every year the kids and I gather toys to donate to toys for tots, it is great to get the kids involved in things like this and teaching them the importance of helping others.

I am so donating to this. I love what they're doing. If kids don't have food, they obviously don't have all the vitamins and minerals they need to stay healthy.
Lisa
What a great initiative. It makes total sense, too. Even people who have plenty to eat still take vitamins to supplement their shortcomings. Imagine what a body must need when food is scarce.

I take for granted how healthy my kids are. This is such an important campaign and what a different a quarter can make!

What a great way to help others get the nutrients they need. I need to stock up on vitamins to help keep my family healthy throughout the year. I'm glad some businesses care so much about their communities.

What a great cause. I can't imagine how crappy it must feel to be hungry AND vitamin deficient.

This is just fabulous. And over 90% goes to help? That is great. Thanks so much for sharing.

Great cause! It's so nice to know that what you donate to actually goes to that!

This is amazing! Every child should get their vitamins, and it makes me sad to know how unhealthy some are. Love this initiative!

What a lovely cause to support--this is the time of year when charity becomes more popular, so you definitely chose the right time to spread the word!
Daisy
What a great campaign! I love that they cared enough to put this together.

It's amazing how so little can make such a huge impact on their lives.

This is an amazing cause. It is so good to see that a small donation can help. Many people don't donate because they don't think their small amount can make a difference.

Vitamin Angels is such a great organization to get involved with. Vitamins are so important to maintain your health. They should be available to everyone.
