I participated in the Unilever brightFuture #ShareAMeal blog program as a member of One2One Network. I received compensation but all opinions are my own.
Childhood hunger is not just a problem in this country. It's a tragedy. Have you ever stopped to think about the food on your plate, or the food on your child's plate? Those of us that can provide food for our kids every day are blessed, but 1 out of 5 children in America suffer from chronic hunger.
Childhood Hunger is an Epidemic
I've been lucky enough to be able to put food on the table for me and my daughter all her life. I say lucky, because we ARE lucky and blessed. My daughter has never had to deal with the fear of wondering where her next meal will come from or when she'll get it. She's never had to experience the gnawing hunger in her gut that so many children in this country feel - but not everyone is so lucky.
There are children all across this country who don't know where their next meal will come from - if it even comes at all. In fact for 1 out of 5 children, the only meal they can count on is the one they get at school. It's a gnawing fear that they live with daily, and affects every part of their existence. From stunted growth to poor performance in school, childhood hunger is a plague that too many children have to fight through.
Fight Childhood Hunger with Unilver's #ShareAMeal

In addition to their many bright future initiatives, Unilever has partnered with Feeding America to provide a million meals to those in need this holiday season, and they want us to help them provide a million more. You can help by joining the conversation about childhood hunger on social media. When you participate in the conversation across social media channels by sharing a plate selfie using the hashtag #ShareAMeal, Unilever will donate a meal to Feeding America. Whether it's a simple like on Facebook, a retweet, or a photo on Instagram, you social media posts will help feed children who desperately need a meal!

Ending Childhood Hunger Happens One Meal at a Time
Childhood hunger is a scourge in our country, but Unilever believes we can create a brighter future for children facing food scarcity. Through their partnership with Feeding America, Unilever has been able to provide more than 30 million meals to those who desperately need it over the last five years.
They're making a difference, and we can, too. In addition to joining the conversation on social media by sharing a plate selfie using #ShareAMeal or buying participating Unilever products, you can fight childhood hunger on a local level, as well. When you buy groceries, set aside some money for canned good and donate them to your local food bank. If you know of a family in need, anonymously drop a box of perishables at their door.
Whatever you choose to do, you can help fight childhood hunger. It's easy to help make the lives of children in need better, so join Unilever and Feeding America and help fight childhood hunger.
