This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Visit Gulf County. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you're like me, you love outdoor adventure travel. There's nothing more fun than getting out and exploring the great outdoors with the family. It's great bonding time, and it's great fun! And there's no better place to do it than Gulf County, Florida. There's no shortage of exciting things to do when your outdoor adventure travel includes Gulf County!

Outdoor Adventure Travel - Great Fun in the Great Outdoors

Family vacations are a dime a dozen. Theme parks always seem to be the destination of choice and I get that. Theme parks are fun, but the crowds... The crowds can sometimes be overwhelming. Sometimes it's nice to just get out into the fresh air and enjoy everything that nature has to offer. There's no shortage of that in Gulf county. I know this! I live in Florida, and Gulf County is one of the most beautiful areas in the entire state.

Whether you're thinking about a first-time excursion into the great outdoors, or if you're an outdoor adventure travel aficionado, Gulf County has a ton of options. Here are just a few that I think are amazing.

    Diving and Snorkeling

I love to snorkel. I'd love to learn to scuba dive. There's no better way to see the aquatic wildlife short of actually being a fish than snorkeling or diving along a reef. If you want your outdoor adventure travel to include snorkeling or diving, Gulf County, Florida is a prime destination spot.

Gulf County has a number of artificial reefs for diving to accommodate the skill level of any snorkeler or diver. Their reefs are as close as 2 miles off shore or as far as 25 miles off shore. Experienced divers can take in the Empire Mica, a British Tanker sunk by a German submarine in World War II - it's considered one of Florida's best wreck dives.

Take a Ride on the Beach

What's better than a beautiful beach? Riding a horse on a beautiful beach. If you're a horse lover, why not include a ride along Cape San Blas as a stop on your next outdoor adventure travel itinerary? You can choose group packages for up to ten people, family rides, and even couples packages with lovely moonlit rides.

If you'd like a little more horsepower, you can get a permit for 4-wheel driving on Indian Pass and Cape San Blas. Depending on your proximity to Gulf County, you can purchase an annual permit for beach riding. Be aware that this isn't for tearing up the beach. It's for a nice, slow sightseeing ride.

    Saltwater Fishing

If I don't mention saltwater fishing, my husband will never forgive me! If you or a member of your family is an avid fisherman, Gulf County is the perfect outdoor adventure travel destination. Great saltwater fishing can be found year round there.

You can hit the bay or the canal for some low key fishing for species such as Speckled Trout, Flounder, Whiting, Pompano, Mullet, and the occasional shark. For a more exciting saltwater fishing experience, head offshore and bag Grouper, Mahi, Red Snapper, Spanish Mackeral, or Amberjack.

Outdoor Adventure Travel is Better in Gulf County

These are three options for great outdoor adventure travel in Gulf County, but there's so much more to do and see than what I've listed. There's really no end to what you can do. Even if you don't charter anything at all, Gulf County has tons of wildlife to see and a huge number of trails for hiking and sight seeing.

    14265057998_6441bb3911_z

To encourage outdoor adventure travel, Gulf County is offering a great giveaway to get you out and about in the great outdoors, whether you come to them or not.

Gulf County looks beautiful and is a part of Florida I have yet to explore. I would love to bring my children to an East Coast beach area since they have visited the Southern California coast numerous times over the years.
