Wouldn’t it be incredible if someone showed up at your door one day and said ‘I want you to travel the world and I’m going to help you make that happen?’ For me, the hardest part would be choosing where to start my journey!
In the last year I’ve had the opportunity to travel the Caribbean twice over, to Germany for the holidays and I seem to be in the city that never sleeps every other week lately. But there are so many places I’m still dreaming to go, and apparently I’m not the only one with a serious case of wanderlust.
Last year over 25,000 students from over 200 countries participated in AXA’s ‘Great Global Adventure’ in an effort to win the travelling, working and volunteering experience of a lifetime. The Great Global Adventure is a game where players have to answer clues and complete challenges which are hidden on a world map. The winner needs to get through different steps of the competition, striving to obtain an unbelievable prize: a round-the-world trip of up to 8 months, as well as 2 six-week paid internships at 2 different AXA locations worldwide, plus a voluntary experience with one of their Corporate Responsibility partners! AXA shapes the prize around the winner’s circumstances and interests, taking into account their personal safety. Plus, most travel, accommodation and living expenses are covered by AXA.
This year William Moore, from England was the prize winner. He started his trip around the world in September 2015. The unique experience was customized around William’s preferences and interests. Among the many countries and regions he chose to travel to, were:
For his first six-week internship he chose Hong Kong in the investment management arm of AXA IM. He also had the opportunity to participate in the Indonesia Community Project with Junior Achievement, one of AXA’s CR partners. The local program, Prestasi Junior Indonesia teaches local students basic knowledge about finance and entrepreneurship.
What an incredible opportunity! You can follow William’s ’round-the-world adventure’ on the Great Global Adventure Instagram page here.
