I'm sure you've all seen the hilarious movie trailer for Daddy's Home by now, right? If you haven't, you need to watch it here right now - it's guaranteed to give you a good laugh and get you excited about going to see it in theaters on Christmas Day! When I was asked to work on this sponsored campaign, I had to laugh to myself because I can totally see myself living this plot very soon.
I was actually with my ex-husband when I saw the trailer for the first time, and we locked eyes and burst out laughing..."that will totally be us in the near future." Except that I'd like to think that my next husband will be a little younger than Will Ferrell, well, younger than my almost-ex-husband anyway...and with better abs. And with more hair. Hey, a girl can dream, right? I think that the whole blended family / second marriage / dealing with stepparents thing is becoming increasingly normal and while it's not always a bed of roses, we all need to find a way to make it work and find the humor in these super awkward situations. I just love this humorous take on the stepparent situation!
About Daddy's Home
“DADDY’S HOME” follows a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) who strives to become the best step dad to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling and freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives, forcing him to compete for the affection of the kids.
When I married a few years after ending the relationship with my daughter's biological father, it was eerily similar to the dad in Daddy's Home - her biological father really thought that he was the "cool dad" and ended up sleeping on our couch more than once! My ex-husband was a great sport about it and just rolled his eyes. There really was no competition - I traded up in that second relationship. There was a time when her biological father took a Greyhound bus to come visit us for her birthday and ended up sleeping on her bedroom floor. If that isn't super awkward, I don't know what is.
It's as if the writers of Daddy's Home had a hidden camera in our house and used my real-life experiences to write this movie!
Can you relate? Even if you can't...Daddy's Home is bound to give you a good laugh! We're talking Will Ferrell, who makes me laugh hysterically in every movie I see, and Mark Wahlberg...I can't think of a better to way to spend my first Christmas day as a single woman than by watching Mark Wahlberg do ANYTHING on the big screen!
