As you might recall from posts over the last year, I've been adopting a healthier lifestyle for myself and my family. What does Bigelow Tea and Back to School drinks have to do with this? One of the biggest transitions our family has made was to kick the soda habit. Sure, I still indulge now and then while traveling or out to eat, but I don't buy soda for Angeline and I anymore. While it wasn't easy to make the transition, we no longer miss it and we feel much better - and less bloated! We drink a lot of tea, in fact, that's pretty much all Angeline drinks, aside from milk or juice in the morning!
I took a shopping trip to Walmart to stock up on some new Bigelow Tea flavors, and you can check out my shopping trip in this Google+ story.
While we don't drink hot tea very often, we go through a few gallons of iced tea a week - sometimes even more than that! To keep things interesting, I like to switch it up and make homemade iced tea, as opposed to just buying the premade kind. We mix and match flavors, make Arnold Palmers, and even add fresh fruit to our Bigelow Tea to infuse it with different flavors.
Soda and diet soda are full of chemicals and preservatives, while most teas are made with natural ingredients and are actually good for you! Drinking soda on a regular basis can lead to all sorts of health problems, especially if you drink a lot. I don't know about other people, but it actually gives me headaches and a stomach ache now if I drink a lot of soda, after having been off of it for so long. You don't have to worry about that when you make tea from a tea bag. You'll even find that some of the teas actually HELP you and have health benefits, like Bigelow Tea Green Tea that has antioxidants. Angeline loves a glass of iced tea made with Bigelow Tea Green Tea with honey. We don't even add any sugar to it because the honey sweetens it!
I personally love making a Bigelow Tea Pomegranate Arnold Palmer. It's refreshing and tasty, and the combination of the lemon and pomegranate is just so different!
Bigelow Tea Back to School Pomegranate Arnold Palmer Recipe
Ingredients
5 bags Bigelow Tea Pomegranate Black Tea bags steeped in 3 cups of water
3 cups lemonade
3 cups of ice cubes
1 lemon, sliced thinly
Directions
Bring 3 cups of water to a rolling boil and pour over 5 Bigelow Tea Pomegranate black tea bags.
Pour in 3 cups of lemonade and stir. Add ice cubes and lemon slices for garnish.
We usually drink iced Bigelow Tea during the day and in the evenings, and every so often Angeline and I will have a mug full of hot Bigelow Tea before bed when we're having trouble sleeping.
At just $2.24 for a package of 20 Bigelow Tea bags, you get a lot more bang for your buck compared to buying individual jugs of iced tea at the grocery store!
Because we drink mostly iced tea, it's so easy to take our Bigelow Tea with us when we leave the house. I always have one of those insulted tumblers with me when I am running errands, it's just so easy to grab one and go!
Are you making any changes for the back to school season? Now is the best time to incorporate healthy changes into your life!

My husband LOVES tea and lemonade combined (I didn't realize that was called an Arnold Palmer btw, learn something new everyday 🙂 ) but I never thought of flavoring the tea that got combined with lemonade! Thanks for the idea 🙂
