I was at a Twitter party a few weeks ago where we were chatting about nail art and such, and surprise, surprise, I had an email waiting for me when the party was over! I was invited to receive a complimentary SensatioNail Starter Kit and one of the colors from their Liquid Metal line to review!
Don’t ya just love when that happens? I certainly do!
I used to get gel manicures religiously. Normal nail polish has always been such a hassle for me because I use my hands so much that the polish begins to chip off almost immediately after I’ve painted my nails. At one point, Angeline and I were going every 2 or 3 weeks, and as you can imagine, that cost added up quickly. When Chris stopped traveling for work, and our income was drastically cut, the first thing to go was our salon appointments.
I really missed getting those gel manicures, so I was super excited to be able to do them at home!
The SensatioNail collection just introduced six luxurious and rich metallic shades for the fall. As with any gel polish, there is no dry time, smudging, chipping or fading, and you end up with beautiful gelled nails for up to two weeks for just a fraction of what you would pay at the salon!
SensatioNail’s Invincible Color Gel Polishes are to be used with SensatioNail’s all-in-one Starter Kit, which includes their exclusive LED Lamp to safely and quickly flash-cure gel manicures. Providing everything you need and seal in color to a glossy, radiantly resilient finish in three simple steps, this kit gives you everything you need for 10 perfect applications.
The SensatioNail Starter Kit retails for $59.99 and is available at stores like Walgreens, CVS, Target and Walmart, and also available online at the same stores, plus Drugstore.com. You can find out more about the starter kit at SensatioNailgel.com.
While each SensatioNail Starter Kit comes with one polish, you’ll definitely want to buy a few extra colors to shake things up! They have over 40 regular colors, as well as a french manicure color kit, magnetic shades, and specially themed lines like the Liquid Metal and Fantasy shades.
SensatioNail Liquid Metal colors include:
• Gold Me Tight – This dazzling gold jewel tone is jaw dropping
• Going for the Rose Gold – A subtle gold with just a pop of rosiness
• Rock My Emerald – Lush with pops of sparkle, this striking color will catch all eyes
• Don’t Metal Me – This exquisite light purple is an attention getter
• Iron Mama – Deep purple and sophisticated, need we say more
• Steel a Kiss – This one-of-a-kind blue is mysterious, yet bold
I received the Rock My Emerald shade for my review and I love it! Green is my favorite color and I thought this was just perfect for me – and it’s totally in fashion this fall!
While the process of doing a gel manicure at home is very similar to how it’s done at the salon, it will take you a bit longer. While you’re at a salon, the manicurist works on one hand while the other is under the light. Obviously you only have two hands, so you can only work on one hand at a time.
The SensatioNail Gel Manicure Process
First you file and buff your nails, then wipe them clean with the Gel Cleaner and apply a coat of Gel Primer. You stick your hand under the lamp for 60 seconds, then apply a coat of the Gel Base & Top Coat. You’ll stick your hand under the lamp again for 60 seconds, then apply one coat of color, and repeat with the lamp for 60 seconds. Apply a second coat of color, dry for 60 seconds under the lamp, then apply a coat of Gel Base & Top Coat, and dry for 60 seconds.
The Pro 3060 LED Lamp has the power of a professional light in a smaller size that it’s easy to store, but works just as well. It really did dry the polish in 60 seconds! The light is pre-programmed to shut off after 60 seconds after you push the button, so you always know exactly when the time is up. It actually chirps, so there’s no confusion!
When you’re done, you are really done! Your nails will be completely dry and they can last you up to two weeks, depending on how much you use your hands and whatnot. My gel manicure lasted me about a week and a half before I got my first chip, but I am someone who is on the computer all day, washes my hands a million times a day, and always using my hands.
With the SensatioNail Gel Starter Kit only being $59.99 and polishes averaging $5 at most retailers, this is much more affordable than going to the salon to get your nails done!
SensatioNail also offers polish removal products:
The SensatioNail Gel Polish Removal Kit is simple: Just buff and wrap! After 15 minutes, push gel polish away with the manicure stick or the removal tool (sold separately).
The SensatioNail Gel Polish Removal Tool is easy-to-hold handle, it has an angled tip, and a gentle but firm gliding motion lifts and gently pushes away gel polish.
The new SensatioNail Gel Polish Remover will remove SensatioNail Gel Polish without drying the skin or your nails. It’s an acetone-based formula that has nourishing ingredients including Vitamins A & E, and Eucalyptus Oil to help condition the natural nail as it removes the color. You can also just use regular acetone nail polish remover – that’s what I had on hand and I used it just fine.
If you can’t find the SensatioNail Gel Polish Removal Kit or Tool, you can try this: soak cotton balls in pure acetone nail polish remover and place on the nail, making sure that it completely covers the nail. Tear strips of tin foil and wrap around to completely cover the cotton ball. Let sit for about 10 minutes, then begin pushing away the polish with a manicure stick. It’s messier, but if you don’t have access to the kit or tool, it works in a jam!
