I know so many people who no longer have a landline, and while we do have one for emergencies (living in a Hurricane-prone area, you can't rely on cell phones during storms!), we rarely use it because it's just not as functional as a cell phone. Unfortunately, due to the building materials of our house (our walls are made of concrete block), we have horrible cell phone reception just about everywhere but our living room. So while we prefer to use our cell phones, we often find ourselves wanting to use the landline because our cell phone calls drop constantly!
So when I was asked to check out the new VTech Connect to Cell handset, I was all like YES, PLEASE!
What makes the VTech Connect to Cell Handset awesome?
Well, firstly, you can make and receive landline AND cellular phone calls on the very same handset! By connecting your BLUETOOTH® wireless technology-enabled cell phone, you can make and receive calls on your cell number and on your landline phone number without scrambling to figure out which phone is ringing!
Eliminate cell phone dead spots - which is practically everywhere in the back of our house - by putting the VTech Connect to Cell base unit wherever the reception is best in your home. You can plug in the extra handset anywhere else and get the same great reception because it's connected to the base unit!
You can store up to 200 directories from two different cell phones by downloading and storing your cell phone directory to the VTech Connect to Cell handset! There's no need to input names and numbers into your handset!
Connect to Cell two handset models DS6511-2 without an answering machine (MSRP: $49.95) and DS6521-2 with an answering machine (MSRP: $59.95) are priced competitively, enhance the cellphone experience in the home, and are a great option for those without a landline. Both models connect with up to two cellphones and store up to 200 cellphone directory entries, so mobile calls are accessible from the comfort of a cordless handset. Users can add up to five handsets on both models, effectively ending the mad dash to find the cellphone, because the call can be answered from any of the handsets. An added benefit for those consumers who like a central home answering machine for landline calls, the DS6521-2 adds a digital answering system with up to 14 minutes of recording time.
Benefits of the VTech Connect to Cell Handsets
- No more dropped calls in the home because you can place your cell where it gets the best service in your home, and take the landline with you from there.
- Don’t have to worry about missing a call because you can’t hear your mobile phone or because it’s at the bottom of your purse. It will ring through the home phone system!
- Keep your cell phone directory on your cordless phone system.
- Handset speakerphone helps you accomplish other tasks while carrying on the conversation.
Sounds pretty awesome, right? We have our VTech Connect to Cell base unit set up in the kitchen and the extra handset is in our home office, which is the easiest room to get to from both bedrooms.

I find phones like this easier to handle for longer convos, so this would work for me.

I find landline to be more reliable than cell phones in some situations. My calls are always dropping, too.

I have a land line and wow, what a unique phone. I love that you can also use it with your cell phone.

I no longer have a landline, but I always wondered how people went from one to the next because my cell wasn't connected to our house phone…this is so cool!

We actually own this phone and absolutely love it. All of the convenience of a landline and a cell phone, all in one!
