I felt the magic of swiss herbs in Ricola Herb & Throat drops as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars. #swissherbs

It starts with a sniffle. Perhaps it's just a little tickle in the back of your throat. The warning signs of the evil that is a cold. They can knock us down, deplete us of much needed energy and motivation - they leave a mass of crumpled tissues, tiredness, and crankiness in their aftermath. Healthy or sick, we have important things to do! Parenting, cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, running errands, preparing for the holidays, blogging...these things can't wait for me to take even a few days off. That's why I keep an arsenal of Ricola® Herb & Throat Drops on hand!

The new Ricola® Revitalizing Herb Drops are especially helpful in giving me a natural boost and keeping me on my toes when the winter months approach and cold and flu season are in full swing!

    Ricola Revitalizing Herb Drops

Ricola Revitalizing Herb Drops have an effervescent center that is both soothing and fun, and comes in a refreshing lemon zest flavor. There's just something about the flavor of lemon that makes me feel better; I think it might have to do with my mom giving me all of those cups of tea with honey and lemon when I got sick as a kid.

Ricola Revitalizing Herb Drops are made with ginseng as well as a punch of B Vitamins to aid in restoring energy as well as a mixture of Swiss alpine herbs. The combination of these herbs play a role in easing a cough, soothing a sore throat, and generally aiding in feeling better. I am finding that when I feel sluggish and icky, a Ricola Revitalizing Herb Drop puts a little pep in my step!

If you're not familiar with the benefits of natural herbs, this might all seem a little foreign to you. That's okay - I had no idea WHY Ricola's herbs were so beneficial either, I just knew that I liked their drops! Let's break it down, shall we?

    Ricola's "Magic 10" Herbs

    • Lemon Balm ~ It has a restorative, energising and cheering effect, and in the language of flowers it brings “harmony with the divine message, to dispel fears of the future”.
    • Horehound ~ Horehound activates the immune system, eliminating foreign matter and protecting the respiratory tracts from dust particles.
    • Elder ~ Elder promotes perspiration, helping counteract fever, stimulating bronchial secretion and is an immunotherapeutic agent.
    • Peppermint ~ Peppermint has a cooling or anti-inflammatory effect and stimulates the circulation. It is an effective treatment against bacterial infectious agents due to its rapid cleansing action.
    • Mallow ~ Mallow helps alleviate mucous membrane irritations in the mouth and throat, dry and irritable coughs, gastrointestinal and stomach complaints.
    • Sage ~ Sage’s essential oil has a cleansing action against bacterial infection agents in the mouth and throat. Its tannins prevent overproduction of perspiration and its bitters strengthen the digestive tract, also helping prevent bad breath.
    • Thyme ~ Thymol, the main component of Thyme, is regarded as a very effective disinfectant.
    • Lime Flowers ~ Lime flower blossoms drive fevery heat out of the body by promoting sweating, clear the respiratory tract and make the voice clear and bright. They relieve irritable coughs and soothe inflamed frontal and maxillary sinuses when inhaled.
    • Hyssop ~ Hyssop has a beneficial effect on the chest area, relieving chronic irritable coughs and working as an expectorant. It also reduces inflammation that makes breathing difficult
    • Wild Thyme ~Wild thyme revitalizes by driving colds and hardened mucus out of the bronchioles, seals the mucus membranes for a long time, gently strengthens the stomach and intestines and increases blood flow in the pelvis.

Along with those listed, Chrüterchraft - a natural herb found only in Ricola products from Switzerland - is used. Be sure to visit Ricola.com to take an interactive journey to learn more about Chrüterchraft!

As a work-at-home mom, I am constantly busy. I know that many people think work-at-home parents have all the time in the world, but that's just not the case! I am always "on," always doing something, whether it's cooking and editing photos for a recipe post, writing blog posts, letting the dogs in and out a million times a day, tackling the mountain of laundry, running errands - or traveling! I simply don't have time to get sick, and when I do, I am never able to actually take time off to rest.

I try to make sure I have a few of the Ricola Revitalizing Herb Drops stashed in my purse, nightstand, and in the car for fast relief when the first signs of a cold pop up. Sometimes it can be something as simple as a scratchy throat that might make me feel a little under the weather, and a quick Ricola Herb Drop helps me continue with my day without feeling like death warmed over.

With the holidays approaching, it's more important than ever to feel our best 100% of the time. Between school pageants, office holiday parties, planning our holiday gatherings and any holiday travel, who has time to get sick?

Go grab a few Ricola Herb Drops so that you're prepared for those not-so-great feeling days!
