I’ve been working as a Karina Dresses Ambassador, or “Frockstar” for a while now, and I’ve slowly worked my way through most of the styles made for triangle shapes. My most recent dress was a sleeveless Penelope Navy with White Dots and I know I say this about every new style that I try, but the Penelope by Karina Dresses is my new favorite! I just received the new Penelope in Blue Dots shortly before flying out to California for a girl’s getaway weekend in Napa Valley and was so excited that it arrived in time! Of course my bags were mostly packed with Karina Dresses, as they are so versatile and travel so well. I threw in a few pairs of Toms and I was all set for a fun weekend slurping wine and checking out the fine dining establishments in Yountville and St Helena!
Our first day in Napa Valley was spent on an 8 hour winery tour with a small group of strangers-turned-best friends. We visited a few wineries for tastings and tours, went into a wine cave, had a picnic lunch – we even stopped and took a photo with the iconic Napa Valley sign!
It was a whirlwind four days of wine, more wine, a few really incredible gourmet meals, and then lots more wine. My friends and I used to live near each other in Miami and spend a lot of time together in a social group we were all members of, but after they moved away, our outings are few and far between. We try to get together at least once a year to catch up and get our girl time in.
Like all Karina Dresses, the Penelope dress by Karina Dresses was specifically designed to flatter women with a specific body shape. The Penelope dress is great for women with triangle and hourglass shapes because it has a detailed waistband (don’t worry, it’s not elastic, so it doesn’t pinch) and full skirt, so it creates the look of a cinched waist and falls loosely over the hips, with subtle pleating and actually falls right above the knee, which is the first dress that I’ve found doesn’t fall past my knees. As a shorter gal, I really love the length of the Penelope!
Also? IT HAS POCKETS. Enough said, right?
Each style of Karina Dresses were made for certain body types and you can find the perfect dress for your body in the Karina Dresses Best Fit guide.
The Karina Dresses Best Fit Guide:
Triangle ~ fuller hips, smaller top
Inverted Triangle ~ broader shoulders or fuller bust with smaller hips
Rectangle ~ hips, bust and waist are similar size
Oval ~ waist and bust are same size with smaller hips
Hourglass ~ curvaceous , full hips and bust
I recommend check out the Best Fit guide before looking at dresses, as each dress is tailor made for certain body types. Also keep in mind that they tend to run on the small side unless it’s the pointe fabric. For instance, I am wearing an XS Penelope by Karina Dresses in this photo – every dress I’ve received for a review so far has been an XS and I normally wear a medium.
