Do Casinos Need To Do More For Women?

The 21st century is a very different time from the so called golden era of the 70’s and 80’s entertainment. The focus on gender stereotypes is considerably clearer, and brands and businesses are having to work harder to shed the old attitudes and move into the modern day. The once considered normal idea that the world of casinos and gambling are simply a boys’ club, with girls only invited around to act as arm candy, are long gone. At long last, it seems to be the year where men and women are finally beginning to stand on equal footing rather than being considered somehow lesser than their counterparts.

Do Casinos Need To Do More For Women in 2019?

Less serious websites, with a focus on fun, social aspects and prizes rather than hard-core gambling seem to be the way forward for casinos and companies that are looking to increase the number of female customers. Targeted advertising featuring familiar faces and famous celebrities has become a trend in the last few years, with companies attaching their adverts to popular television series, chat shows and other programs with a heavy female viewership.

When it comes to attitudes towards gambling, females tend to be a lot less likely to take big risks, especially when it comes to money, so sites and casinos offering bigger bonuses for smaller costs often attracts more players, as taking the first step seems less daunting. As a rule, females tend to gamble more for the thrill, the excitement and the social experience whereas the opposite sex prefer to take part for the power, the control and the skill factor.

A huge factor in the increase of female players is the recent advancement in smartphone technology making it possible for players to take part in high end, well designed, attractive games without having to set foot in a casino, or even without owning their own computer. The number of females that own a smartphone is near enough 50/50 compared to men, meaning there are few excuses for companies not to accommodate female players, and offer them a safe, secure and easy way to win big without hassle.

As the 21st century evens out the playing field for both sexes, it seems like things are only on the up for the casino industry, which, after a rocky few years, is well needed. From tying in with Instagram influencers and winning the hearts of dance music’s megastars (Steve Aoki and Deadmau5 to name a few), it’s clear that the casino industry has got its eyes on a newer, and harder to please generation.

What are your thoughts on the attitudes in the casino industry? Do you feel businesses are doing enough to accommodate equal opportunities? Or do you think there’s still a long way to go? Drop us a comment and let us know, and be sure to share it with your pals!

Looking to try a few casino games without the hustle and bustle of Vegas? Be sure to head to games, and more!
