I love fluffy dogs. There, I said it. They're so cute and squishy and their fur is so soft, they make the ultimate cuddling companion! What I don't like about fluffy dogs is...grooming them. Bailey and Toby have absolutely gorgeous coats, but they are a total pain in the butt - pun intended - to maintain. There's the brushing, the bathing, the blow drying, the cutting of the fur around their butts...I am a firm believer in paying someone else to do the things that I don't want to do if I can afford it, so I have been taking Bailey and Toby to the Petco Grooming service since they were puppies - and I took Foxy and Nanook, our Alaskan Malamutes that have since passed away, prior to that! It just makes my life so much easier, and frees up valuable time in my busy day.
Have you ever taken your dog to a groomer before? If you have, then you know what a time and stress-saver it can be! Petco Grooming offers a variety of packages, including bathing, hair-cutting, and even spa services! They even offer finishing touches like nail trimming, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing. You can read all about their offerings here. They're all performed by a Petco Certified Stylist, so you never have to worry about someone being unqualified to take care of your precious pooch! Every Petco Certified Stylist has gone through a ton of training, whether they are experienced stylists or just getting started with Petco.
Petco offers walk-ins or appointments, but I highly recommend making an appointment because they're quite popular in my area and there's usually a wait for walk-ins. I have been traveling a lot lately, so I hadn't taken Bailey and Toby in for grooming in about four weeks before their last appointment, and you could really tell. Their coats were so lackluster. I felt guilty!
Every service begins with the 7-Point Pet Care Check, where a Petco Certified Stylist gives your dog a visual and physical screening that checks for abnormalities on your pet’s eyes, ears, teeth, nose, under-side, skin, coat, nails, and pads.
If they see something - let's say fleas, for instance - they'll let you know and tell you if there is an additional fee involved.
Bailey and Toby always look fantastic - and smell fantastic too - after they've had a visit to the Petco Grooming service. It saves me so much time and hassle, I don't know what I'd do without them.
Well, I do know. I'd spend an hour brushing and bathing each dog! Who has time for that?
