When I left Corporate America in 2010, I never thought that I would have to write a resume again. I settled into blogging shortly afterwards, and even then, I never imagined that I would ever need to have a resume...especially for blogging! Sometimes you just never know what opportunities life with throw at you, so when I was invited to apply for a writing job and found out that they required a resume? Well, I freaked out a little! Luckily, learning how to create a blogger resume with Office 365 Personal isn't very difficult, and it literally took me 15 minutes from start to finish!
How to Create a Blogger Resume with Office 365 Personal
Office Personal 365 is a brand new version of Microsoft Office that was specially created just for you – the average home user who doesn’t need a lot of bells and whistles when it comes to their PC programs. Office 365 Personal brings you all of the perks of the full Office suite, like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and OneNote, at a reduced price. Now, of course, sometimes we just want to hire someone to do this kind of thing for us, and that's totally understandable. You can look into services like consulting services to handle all of this technical stuff for you so that can save time and skip pouring over programs like Microsoft Office.
With just a $6.99 monthly or $69.99 annual subscription fee, you can install your Office 365 Personal on 1 PC or Mac, 1 Tablet and a mobile device. Yes, you read that correctly, you can use Office on your mobile devices!
Your Office 365 Personal subscription includes:
Word - In the new read mode, text reflows automatically in columns for easier on-screen reading. Fewer menus mean higher focus on your content, accompanied only by tools that add value to your reading. Open a PDF in Word, and enjoy editing content, such as paragraphs, lists and tables, as if you created it in Word. Show your style and professionalism with templates, plus save time. Browse Word templates in more than 40 categories.
Excel - In Excel 2013 each workbook has its own window, making it easier to work on two workbooks at once. It also makes life easier when you’re working on two monitors. You’ll find several new functions in the math and trigonometry, statistical, engineering, date and time, lookup and reference, logical, and text function categories. The new Recommended Charts button on the Insert tab lets you pick from a variety of charts that are right for your data. Related types of charts like scatter and bubble charts are under one umbrella.
PowerPoint - Presenter View allows you to see your notes on your monitor while the audience only sees the slide. In previous releases, it was difficult to figure out who saw what on which monitor. The improved Presenter View fixes that headache and makes it simpler to work with. No more eyeballing objects on your slides to see if they’re lined up. Smart Guides automatically appear when your objects, such as pictures, shapes, and more, are close to even, and they also tell you when objects are spaced evenly. PowerPoint now supports more multimedia formats, such as .mp4 and .mov with H.264 video and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) audio, and more high-definition content. PowerPoint 2013 includes more built-in codecs so you don’t have to install them for certain file formats to work.
OneNote - Smoothly draw, erase, and edit with your finger, stylus, or mouse on any touch-capable device, such as a Tablet PC or a Windows 8 tablet or slate PC. If you need to share your handwritten notes and care about legibility, OneNote can automatically convert your handwriting to text. The improved Send to OneNote tool makes it easier than ever to clip whatever you’re seeing on your screen, send a Web page or an entire document to a notebook section, or to jot down Quick Notes that are automatically saved and filed as part of your notebook. You can attach just about any computer file to any part of your notes, which stores a copy of the file in your notebook. You can also create or import Excel spreadsheets and Visio diagrams right within OneNote and edit their information in place in your notes.
Outlook for email and calendaring - The People Card collects all the key details about a contact in one place: phone, email, address, company info, social media updates, even whether they’re available. From the card, you can schedule a meeting, send an instant message, or give them a call, making it a one-stop-shop for all communication. Your calendar can tell you much more than just the time of your next appointment. You can add your local weather forecast right there in Calendar view, along with current conditions. Receive push-based email, appointments, and contacts from Outlook.com, and Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail) - all conveniently delivered right into your Outlook experience.
Publisher and Access - Create dynamic publications in very little time when you insert and customize prebuilt building blocks of content, both built-in and from the Publisher community, directly from Publisher. Choose from an array of page parts—such as sidebars and stories—as well as calendars, borders, advertisements, and more. Use professional-looking effects for text, shapes and pictures, including softer shadows, reflections, and OpenType features such as ligatures and stylistic alternates. Use Publisher to search your online albums on Facebook, Flickr and other services and add pictures directly to the document, without having to save them first.
Your Office 365 Subscription also includes Smartphone access, OneDrive online storage (20GB) and 60 Skype world minutes to over 60 countries!
And get this, Office 365 Personal is available for your iPad too! Office Personal 365 presents ensures that your documents look better than ever when you are working on your iPad, and you don’t have to worry about losing your formatting when accessing your documents from different devices. You can access your work documents from home or while on the go, update your budget while sitting in the carpool lane, pull up all of your travel documents while on the road – the transition is seamless!
You can purchase a Microsoft Office 365 Personal monthly or annual subscription at Walmart! It doesn’t get much more convenient than that, now does it?
How to Create a Blogger Resume with Office 365 Personal
Open Microsoft Word and select NEW, which will bring up a plethora of options. Choose Resumes.
Select BASIC RESUME, as this is the format that will make it easier to work in what we do as bloggers.
Don't be intimidated when you see the options on the Basic Resume and aren't sure how to apply what you do as a blogger to them!
Simply go through and replace the standard copy with your personal details. List your own website, and a few details summarizing what you do for your blog. Where the guide lists previous employers, simply list any other website that you've written for. For instance, I used to be a recipe contributor to two websites, so I have listed those as previous experience. There will be a little plus sign at the end of each section, and if you click that plus sign, it will create a new space for you in the form - this is how you add new sections as you go along.
Now, I did not go to college, so I have deleted the "Education" section and created a Memberships section. All of those blogger networks and ambassador programs that you are a part of will fit nicely into your resume because they show potential employers that others value your work.
You can add as much or as little detail as you like to your blogger resume. You can customize the headers, delete areas that don't apply to you and add extra areas if you need to expand upon a section. As I am only listing blogging and travel writing experience on this blogger resume, I deleted the extra spaces at the end that listed Communication, Leadership and References. It's so easy, you just highlight the area and right click with your mouse and choose "delete."
The nice thing about a blogger resume over a traditional resume is that most of our efforts and achievements are readily available to anyone who has access to the internet. Your potential employer can simply look at your social media networks and your blog to get an idea of what you have to offer.
Of course, don't let that stop you from listing any special accomplishments that might apply to the job! If you are applying for something on the back end of blogging, like SEO Strategist or Social Media Manager for a brand, list more pertinent information so that the prospective employer has all of your highlights at their fingertips. You can even adjust one of the sections to highlight any special experience or accolades you have received in certain categories.
I recommend that when you are finished creating your Word Blogger Resume that you save it to your SkyDrive, so that it is easily accessible from any device. You'll always have it when you need it!
Creating a resume of any kind is so easy with Microsoft Word! Even as a blogger, I don't think I could survive without Microsoft Office, and since an Office 365 Personal Subscription is only $6.99 a month or $69 a year, I don't have to!
Head over to Walmart.com to find out more about Office 365 Personal and to buy your own subscription!

The thought of creating a resume after 10+ years out of the workforce is VERY scary, even as a (semi) successful blogger. Glad to know where to turn when that inevitable time comes!
