Team SCA is the first completely female team to compete in the Volvo Ocean Race in ten years! An all-female team in the world's toughest sailing race...Yep, that's pretty empowering!
SCA operates with the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to live life to the fullest, and that is something that I support 100%. To that end, SCA is launching their Amazing Women Everywhere campaign, which celebrates women who have a positive impact on others. They've created a digital photo mosaic that allows everyone to share the stories of the women who inspire them!
The Amazing Women Everywhere mosaic will be displayed on www.teamsca.com/awemosaic, as well as on a video well at each port the team stops at!
The Amazing Women Everywhere campaign not only gives you the chance to bring your own personal stories to life, but for every woman featured through your submissions, SCA will acknowledge them as well through a donation of 1 Euro to the World Wildlife Federation!
The all-female team competing in the Volvo Ocean Race certainly embodies the spirit of living life to the fullest, doesn't it? Made up of women from all over the world and from all walks of life, these 13 women have trained for two years to compete in the race, and this is the first time in a decade that there has been an all-female team in the Volvo Ocean Race!
Why is this team such a big deal? What is the Volvo Ocean Race all about?
The Volvo Ocean Race is an offshore sailing race - said to be the mos difficult in the world! It's a nine month long race - yes, I said NINE MONTHS LONG - and covers an impressive 39,379 miles, and it began in Spain in October 2014, and will come to an end in Sweden in June.
That's nine months at sea. 13 women, one yacht and what I can only assume are some very long days and nights...SCA has made it possible for women to participate in an event that is normally dominated by men, as I mentioned above, this is the first time in over ten years that an all-female team has participated in the Volvo Ocean Race!
I don't know about you, but I think that's pretty impressive and a shining example of living life to the fullest!
Who comes to mind in your life when you think about living life to the fullest? I hope that when my daughter thinks of this spirit of adventure and empowerment, she thinks of me. I want to empower her to go out there and grab life by the horns and set off on adventures of her own - I'm giving her plenty of inspiration by leading by example...
