Carnival Sunshine Cruise Ship Sails Mediterranean Cruise Ports April 2013

I have some big news about the Carnival Sunshine Cruise Ship ...

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to visit Italy. I even included several of my must-see Italian sites on my travel bucket list!

Being part Italian, I took two years of Italian classes in high school. Not much of it stuck, but I always envisioned myself walking the streets of Rome, speaking Italian, eating gelato, throwing coins into the Trevi Fountain...

I've day dreamed of going to Italy for as long as I can remember. Though, to be completely honest, I didn't think it would ever really happen.

Well, that day dream will be turning into a reality in 2013. The Carnival Destiny will undergo a record-setting 49-day, $155 million transformation this spring. Then she'll begin to set sail in the Mediterranean as the Carnival Sunshine cruise ship beginning April 26th!

And guess who will be among the first to cruise the newly-transformed Carnival Sunshine cruise ship this April? ME!

I'll be flying into Barcelona, Spain and setting off for a 9 day cruise aboard the newly-renovated Carnival Sunshine cruise ship and I'm going to...

    I T A L Y!!

Not just Italy...I'll be experiencing a few Mediterranean cruise ports, including:

    • Marseilles, France
    • Livorno (Florence, Pisa) Italy
    • Rome, Italy
    • Naples and Messina, Italy
    • Dubrovnik, Croatia
    • and...and overnight call in Venice, Italy.

When I received the invitation, I started crying and fell off of my chair.

How I wish that my husband could join me, as I have always seen myself walking those famous streets hand in hand with the love of my life. Unfortunately, with Chris's new position at work, he is unable to take that amount of time off during April and May.

    Le Sigh.

Luckily, I won't have to wander the streets of Italy alone, as one of my best friends, Deb from Just Short of Crazy, has taken the plunge and will be joining me!

Innovations added during the renovations will include a stunning three-level Serenity adults-only retreat, a spectacular WaterWorks aqua park featuring a 334-foot-long water slide – the longest in Carnival Cruise Lines “Fun Ship” fleet – along with fun poolside watering holes RedFrog Rum Bar and BlueIguana Tequila Bar, and only-on-Carnival-Sunshine spaces such as Havana Bar, Ji Ji Asian Kitchen, ShakeSpot, JavaBlue Café, and much, much more!

Even with all the added decks, staterooms and fun features, Carnival Sunshine's weight will only grow by about 1% (from 101,353 to 102,853 tons). Pretty amazing, right?

You can find out more about the new Carnival Sunshine cruise ship and the Mediterranean cruise ports I will be visiting during my 9 day cruise at Carnival.com/Sunshine.

And make sure to stay tuned as I get closer to my cruise date; I'll be updating The Rebel Chick, as well as my travel blog, HappyTravels.com, with news as I begin to plan my excursions and activities!

Have fun!!!!!!!! Carnival Cruises are the best. My husband, sister and Brother-in-law took a Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas last September and are going back to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean in October.

Going on a cruise with hubby is definitely on my bucket list. Miami is only 1-2 hours south of us.
