Is everyone excited about spring!? I know I am! Along with spring cleaning usually comes some spring shopping as you identify items you need (or want) to spruce up your home or self for the new season. Spring is a social time where our friends and neighbours are longing to stop by for a cold drink and some refreshing company so we want our homes to look great. Who doesn’t also like to look good while entertaining? There may even be a party or two in your immediate future.
I have a few tips, tricks and hacks to share with you all along with suggestions of fun items that just sing spring. Let’s get right into the thick of it!
Let The Sun Shine In: To Your Home
We’re going to get this part out of the way, together, and it’s going to be ok. You’re going to want to clean. This might be the time to pick up some tools to make life easier. Then, you might be inspired to shop for a few things for your new, sparkling spring home.
Love for Gloves
Cleaning is probably not your favorite activity so why not make it a bit more fun with some helpful dishwashing gloves. Sounds boring? There are actually some fresh new styles!
Target has a bright pink glove offering to get into the spring mood. You might even break a smile as you pull them out to beat back the winter dirt and grime! I think the Wonder Cuff gloves are fun too, and the design is actually very useful. Love that dirty, cold water running up your arm while you’re cleaning? Neither does anyone else. Mr. Clean fixed the problem with the useful, puffed cuff.
Blast The Dust
Things get dusty during the winter. Your windows are all closed up and people are tracking in debris from outside. It just happens. Dusting isn’t my favorite activity, but again, certain tools take the edge off. Pun intended.
This Oxo Good Grips Microfiber Extendable Duster might not qualify as super fun, but it is going to get the job done. Oxo’s innovative designs always accomplish the task in the most comfortable and efficient way for the user, too. On the other hand, Journey’s Edge Extendable Anti-Static Soft Feather Duster IS fun. It almost looks like a character from a children’s puppet show.
Warm Things Up
Everything is fresh and clean and now it’s time to decorate! It’s easier than you might think to do a bit of spring shopping for your home, even if you’re on a budget.
These damask chair covers are to die for. You can play on the traditional floral theme associated with spring but do it in a chic black and white. I picture the sun shining in through a window on these during a great brunch with friends. No reupholstering necessary!
For a pop of spring color, throws fit the bill. They’re cozy during the fluctuating spring temperatures and generally affordable. Lands End has some plush fleece blankets available for a great price in springtime shades. That spearmint one could really compliment the chair cover.
Find Your Spring Style
Finally, we can talk about clothes. Dresses, shoes and flouncy tops as far as the eye can see.
Dresses – Printed dresses are a hot trend for spring 2016 and you can really update the traditional concept to include some electric colors and patterns. Bisou Bisou’s bodycon Cap Sleeve Print Laser Cut Sheath Dress is not your grandmother’s floral frock!
Tops – Spring fashion often caters to the feminine nature of the season. Frills, pinks, and all things that move in the breeze are good to have in the arsenal. Old Navy has you covered with the new Flutter Sleeve Circle Top in their spring collection. It isn’t over the top, but can give some personality to your outfit.
Shoes – You’re not getting out of here with a shoe pick.
I’m a little obsessed with the Cult Feather Sandal, I admit it. If you can splurge for it, it’s worth it. In black, it isn’t overwhelming and adds a little flirty fun to your basic sandal. It can do double duty day or night, too.
I’m pleased to report that sneakers of all sorts are in! Go off on a spring adventure in comfort. It’s always great when something like this happens, because designers follow trends too, obviously! There are lots of unusual sneaker choices right now, like the Chambray Slip-On from Vans. It comes in a parrot pattern, need I say more?
Vans is a real stand out with their new arrivals. The Canvas Authentic Espadrille gets a solid honorable mention here, especially in the grape nectar color.
Now, Go Shopping!
The cleaning can wait, you need some of those shoes. I have one more shopping tip for you that hopefully inspires you. All of those shoes are available at retailers that work with Frugaa.com. That means a quick trip to Frugaa first can net you some additional savings on any pair! Some of the other fashion finds and home goods featured here also come from stores that participate with the discount site, so have a peek before you checkout and shop for spring for less.
