Kittens. Kittens. And more kittens.
That has been the gist of my life the past month or so!
When Luna died suddenly in early November, Chris agreed that I could adopt a new cat. Thus began our journey with Justin and Jessica - now Tarzan and Gizmo - and their endless ailments...and total cuteness.
First they were totally adorable in every way possible.
That lasted about two days. Then they began having diarrhea...they got so sick that I went back and forth between the vet's and the Humane Society for two weeks, until I had to finally take back Gizmo because she was so sick and I just couldn't handle it anymore.
After about a week of antibiotics, Tarzan was pretty much completely better, and we had him neutered and we adopted him! He came home with us and pretty much ruled the roost, so to speak. Tarzan is such a sweet kitten, when he's not climbing up my legs or trying to scratch my eyes out, he's following me around or snuggling , and he even hangs out with me at the kitchen table while I work on the blog!
Unfortunately, he takes a lot of breaks.
In my mail basket.
He is a pretty good kitten, all in all. He doesn't scratch the furniture, he is completely litter box trained, and he gets along well with the dogs!
I don't know what it is about Foxy, but all of the kittens want to be near her!
When Gizmo was sick, she was completely obsessed with Foxy, and wouldn't let her out of her sight for even a minute!
Tarzan does have a few quirks about him...for instance, I can't leave my drinks unattended around him, or I lose my straw!
After Gizmo began getting better, the Humane Society called me to let me know that she was ready to adopt. She was like a new cat!
She's gaining weight, is full of energy and is a real sweetheart. She loves to snuggle too, and has joined Tarzan on the kitchen table to keep me company while I blog.
See that little glass of water? That's their water.
You know, so they leave mine alone. It actually works!
Also? Don't worry, no one really eats at that table. It's mostly just my work space, and I clean the table off whenever we do have a meal there. We normally eat in the living room on the coffee table or TV trays. (I know, we're bad...but as long as we are eating together, I don't care where we eat)
I haven't had a kitten this age (they're about 9 weeks old now) in years...about 7 years, actually. I forgot how crazy kittens get during Christmas time...let's just say that we didn't get to decorate the Christmas tree with ornaments this year!
Both of the kittens have been fighting a fever for the last week and a half and the vet can't figure out what is wrong. Gizmo had a 103 temperature when I took her to the vet last Tuesday, and Tarzan had a 104 temperature when he went to the vet last Thursday.
They are both back on antibiotics.
I tell you, at this point, I feel like I should have earned an honorary veterinary assistance degree! I am an expert at giving kittens medicine - I have been doing it twice a day for almost two weeks!
It's totally worth it though. I adore these furry little guys!

Oh my gosh! I can't... It has taken me three years to get half as many cute photos of my dogs. They are impossible. Tarzan is sooo cute! I hope Gizmo gets well soon. Happy holidays!!

My cat, Gigi, died last month and I'm missing her. Your beautiful pictures of your cats remind me why I will be getting another cat, but NOT a kitten. Merry Christmas.
Jenn
I'm so sorry! 🙁 We got these two kittens because our cat Luna died in early November. We were so sad! Merry Christmas to you too!
Ian

Oh they are so cute! It is hard when you lose one cat. you can never replace it but you can make new memories with a new cat. I love that you resuced two cats. We did the samething about two years ago. We love our kitties. Congrats on being a new mommy!

I've always been a dog person but as I have gotten older and see so many cute kitties it makes me want to switch things up a little. 🙂 They are adorable Jenn!

So proud of you taking them in. I have two part siamese rescues now for about 4 years and the are great. Looks like these two have found a very happy home and new best friend with the doggy!

These pictures truly brightened my morning! I love seeing your spoiled babies and hearing about what a wonderful mama you are. Please give Foxy some extra pets and snuggles for me as well.

Oh, your photos are so adorable! I'm sorry you had to take the one kitty back, but happy that you were able to adopt the other one.
So cute the way your dog and the kitten get along!
We just adopted a young cat/kitten the week before Christmas. Fortunately she got a clean bill of health from the vet. We had been slowly getting her brave enough to come up to us (she was living in the woods behind our house...and was very timid). Vet couldn't come up with a very good guess as to the age...young but possibly up to a year old. only weighs 7 pounds. Such a lightweight compared to the 2 old male cats sharing their home with us. lol
