    disclosure

School lets out in Miami in just six days. SIX DAYS, people! That means we are just six days away from long, lazy days on the beach, family road trips to visit relatives, tackling our summer reading lists and last but certainly not least...enjoying all of that Sunshine that summer brings us every year! As the excitement over summertime waxes, I wanted to share my top 5 Tips For Staying Cool This Summer because nothing ruins a nice summer day more quickly than heat exhaustion. Why stay indoors and miss out on all that summer has to offer when you could be outside soaking it all up?

5 tips for staying cool this summer

5 Tips For Staying Cool This Summer

    1. Stay hydrated! If you don't already have refillable water bottles, invest in a few! It is always important to drink your daily recommended allowance of water, but it is critical during the summertime heat in order to stay hydrated and keep your body temperate cool. I personally love insulated tumblers for keeping my drinks cold while I am out and about, and you can buy them at any drugstore, mass market retailer and grocery store for just a few bucks each.

    2. Dress for the warm weather. As soon as the temperature hits 85, I pack up my jeans. I live in sundresses and bermuda shorts from May to September, which are the hottest months in South Florida. You will be more comfortable in light, airy fabrics - like cotton!

    3. Take the kids to the water! Of course the beach is the prime location to spend your summer days because the coolness of the water and the ocean breeze help you deal with the heat of the sun. If you don't live near a beach, invest in a season pass to the water park or local pool! It's a great way to get the kids out of the house, keep them entertained and make lasting family memories while keeping cool!

    4. Play with water guns! Of course going to the beach or a water park is ideal, but don't underestimate the cooling factor - and the fun - of playing in the hose or sprinkler or having an old fashioned water gun showdown in the backyard! We used to even have a Slip N Slide for Angeline and her friend from across the street when she was little and they had great fun playing on it on hot summer days.
    5. Eat lots of ice cream! Why wait for the ice cream truck to come through the neighborhood? Stock up on your favorite ice cream and save! Safeway and Unilever have the perfect way to stay cool this summer. From now through June 3rd, you can stop in at your nearest Safeway store to mix and match any three of your favorite novelty ice cream brands like Popsicle, Klondike, Good Humor or Magnum and get them for just $2.49 each!

You can find this offer at all Safeway-owned stores like Vons, Pavillions, Tom Thumb, Randalls too!

One lucky winner will win a $50 Safeway gift card to stock their freezer with awesome Unilever ice cream products! Yum!

Thanks for the chance to win! Although we don't have Safeway here in Chicagoland anymore, but I could use this gc in AZ when I bring my daughter to college in August. Ice cream in August in AZ is a must to cool down! 🙂
