What are you grateful for today?

I have a friend who posts each morning on Facebook, “I am grateful…” and then a short quip about what she is grateful for that day. As long as I’ve known her, it is always something different; ranging from her health, to a bright and cheery day, to something special happening in her life at the moment.

I love it.

So often, we forget to find happiness in the little things in life. When is the last time you sat down and really thought about what you are grateful for? With all of the negative things that happen around the world on a daily basis, it’s easy to loose sight of the blessings that are all around us. And as many negative things happen to us, there are just as many positive things happening simultaneously.

Today? I am grateful for my family.

I am grateful for having a big, crazy, wonderful family. I realize that I am lucky – that I am blessed – to have over a dozen immediate family members within a half mile radius of where I live. Not everyone has that; in fact, very few people can say that they can walk to their mother’s house in 5 minutes. Not everyone has two sisters living within five blocks of them – not everyone lives across the street from their aunt and uncle and cousins.

I am grateful for the circumstances in my life that allowed me to purchase a home so close to my family.

It is easy to get caught up in all of the things that are wrong in your life.

What are you grateful for today?

I am grateful for my 4 beautiful daughters, my son in laws & outlaw who bring joy to their lives, 4 precious grandchildren, husband, all of my family, my home, my husbands job… There is just so much to be thankful for. Most of all I am thankful for a merciful, loving and tender hearted Savior, who, without Him I would not be half as grateful for all of what He has given me.

Besides my family I am SO thankful for my best friend. That girl has been with me for over eight years and has been with me through thick and thin. I don’t know what I would do without her. :) She makes me laugh, has seen me high on sugar, and doesn’t care that I am weird.

I’m thankful for my son. I may have given him his life but he has saved mine in ways he (and most other people) will never know.
