This is a sponsored post. I am a Sears blogger, though all opinions are my own.

The 1990’s called…they want their couch back. And that grungy flannel throw too, even though it brings back fond memories of watching Nirvana video marathons on MTV!

If that sentence rings true for you, then it’s definitely time to plan a little décor upgrade in 2014. The good news is that you can forget the pricey interior designer, because Sears’ Furniture Collection can help turn your living room from drab to style magazine-worthy in no time! From traditional to modern styles, Sears’ furniture collection really has something for everyone, no matter what kind of budget you’re working with. You have the option to mix and match pieces from each collection to suit your taste or shop the entire collection for an easy, matching look.

Still need help making a décor decision? Don’t worry, it’s not that difficult!

Just follow these easy tips:

Find color inspiration from a favorite wall color or painting. This can be the focus of your design choices, and you can easily build a new room by working around their color scheme and pattern. Love the blue tones in your favorite photo on the bookshelf? Paint the opposing wall a similar tone for a little pop!

When shopping for the living room, don’t over-stuff the room. Plan for ample walking room between furniture pieces, because a simple, clean layout looks – and feels – best in ALL homes. Seriously, clutter is the enemy and no one likes banging their shins against an unnecessary coffee table…or three.

Tie the room together with matching pillows, a rug and other accessories. Fashion is all about the accessories, and your home decor is no different! Bring different looks together with central pieces or even add a pop of color with bright pillows or vases. Have fun with it! The great thing about accessories is you can totally update the look of a room by changing them out, and there are so many affordable options at Sears!

Lastly, upgrade your room in small payments using FREE Sears Layaway (no service fee) through 3/24, valid on new Layaway contracts only. I am all about the instant gratification, but Sears Layaway really makes updating your home decor on a budget so easy!

After it’s all said & done, invite your pals over and giggle when your friends ask for your designer’s phone number!

I am about to move home to a house that has not seen a makeover in possibly 20 years.

This makes it an exciting prospect as i can start from the beginning and create hopefully a look that will take my breath away.

Yes I am passionate about home decor and love a Shabby Chic/Mediterranean style of look with my favorite color combo of blue, white and yellow.

For many years I had the classic blue and white Oriental porcelain look but became weary of it and subsequently i have a stash of china sitting in my kitchen cupboards.

I thought of making my bedroom a blue and white Asian haven but am not sure if the styles will complement each other

    What do you think?

I would appreciate any ideas you have.
