The Woman Who Helped Me Through It All…

Most teenagers don’t get along with their parents. I thought my mother was crazy! Sound familiar?

Then I became a 19 year old single mother. I suddenly needed my mom for everything.

My mother helped me care for my newborn while I was recovering from my C-section surgery.

She drove me to work when I landed my first office job because I didn’t have a car and the bus didn’t go near the office.

She watched my daughter for me until she was two and a half years old to save me $600 a month in day care bills.

She babysat for me on Sunday nights so that I could go out, make friends and feel normal.

She watched my daughter before school for four years because I had to leave for work before the before-school care opened. When I got those frantic phone calls that my daughter was sick and needed to be picked up from school, it was usually my mother to the rescue.

My mother has helped me raise my daughter. And I will always be grateful. I love doing something special for Mother’s Day, because she has done so much for me through the years.

This Mother’s Day, why not give your mom a gift that helps other mothers? The Heart of Haiti product line is currently available at Macy’s and a portion of the proceeds go to assisting Haitian artisans, many women, in supporting their families. Why not give mom a lovely, unique gift that gives back?

You can shop the collection at  http://bit.ly/gaalFP.

And guess what? My readers get a 15% off Heart of Haiti discount 5/3-5/8 using the promo code CLEVERGIRLS !

I was selected for this very special “CleverHaiti” opportunity by Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity. All opinions are my own.
