The Never-Ending Home Office Renovation

As most of my regular readers know, I have been working on renovating my 1959-built house for a little over two years now. The main focus of my renovation this summer is my home office, which was our spare bedroom/catch all space.

So far, we’ve ripped out the carpeting and replaced it with honey oak wood laminate flooring that matches the rest of the house. We’ve installed a new door, door frame and baseboards…and that is where I stopped. I’ve been looking for a small bedroom set as well as desks and desk chairs the past month or so. I’d really like to coordinate the bedroom furniture and the home office furniture so that it flows smoothly.

I spend quite a but of time at my desk, so the chair I have right now is really not cutting it! It’s too low, it’s not adjustable and it provides absolutely no back support! I found this mesh back chair online and I think it’s going to work very well with the desk I’ve chosen and the bedroom set I have my eye on! It’s streamlined and ergonomically correct, which I know is important from all of those years in my corporate job.

I especially like that this chair has adjustable arms too! I am only 5′ 3″ (okay, okay. 5′ 2 & 3/4″) so I usually have a hard time getting comfortable and finding the perfect height for my arms. While chairs without arms are fine if you are up and down all day, that is really not the case with me. When I sit down to pay the bills, work on my blog, or try to build my home business, I like to rest my elbows on office chair with arms to take the strain off!

Do you have any favorite office accessories to recommend to me? I’m starting from scratch people!

I look forward to your renovation pics! That chair sounds great. Especially since I’m writing this from a wooden dining table chair with two cushions so my but doesn’t go numb 😛

We have been renovating out 1950 house too. Isn’t it great fun? Love the chair. I think a nerve center in a office id fun. Get a big white or cork board basket and bins and cool pushpins. I really want something like that.

ooooo Love me an office chair that isn’t broken in by my sons who like to spin in it!!! A comfortable chair with a high back and maybe even massage option would totally work for me!

Oh, I love a chair with arms. Like you, I have to have them. And a high back.

I love the office desks that close up completely to look like a nice piece of furniture. And they hide all your mess! Bonus.

One unusual office accessory is a re-purposed white wooden shoe holder with 15 cubbyholes. It fits on my large desk and holds all our office supplies that will fit in the cubbyholes.
