How do you spend a fun Saturday morning with the kids?
By heading down to your local GapKids store during the Shine on Saturdays event!
I recently attended the GapKids Shine on Saturday event at the GapKids store in Cocowalk, Coconut Grove. I arrived bright and early, and I was the first one there! I got to talk to the ladies running the event and find out a little more about it while we waited for parents to start arriving with their little ones.
The concept behind the GapKids Shine on Saturday event is that GapKids wants children to get creative! They enlisted the help of Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag to come up with fun and inspiring art projects for little kids to do.
Merrilee Liddiard’s projects were inspired by the GapKids and babyGap fall collection, including the best new 1969 denim – Jewel Box Skinnies for girls (the new skinny jean updated in bright stretchy denim) and Action Stretch Denim for boys (designed for play all day- it’s denim that’s made to move).
From creating geometric masterpieces on canvas using paint and tape to colorful, custom journals to get kids ready for back-to-school, the projects help kids express their creativity!
Sounds like a lot of fun, right? The kids had a blast creating little personalized journals with the help of the ladies running the Shine on Saturday event. Creative activities like this are wonderful for children because as we all know, art and creative expression is vital for children’s self esteem! They can be goofy, silly, or completely serious and no matter what they do, creative art is always “right.”
There is still one more GapKids Shine on Saturday event left in Miami! Check it out! You can also find other events around the country here!
